(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 26 Feb 2014) Hazy amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with crisp-bread, orange peel and toast. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, apricots, toast, pears and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well made. Nice one.

Bottle. Deep Hazy amber liquid with small to medium off-white head. Aroma of citrus, dried fruit, grapefruit, tangerine, biscuit, caramel and raw sugar. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of citrus, grapefruit, raw sugar and bread. Light to medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. Meh.

Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, pears, peaches, toast, a rounded malt character and a gentle bitterness. Almost full body, with certain sweetness. Quite nice.

Bottle at the Jopenkerk. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is yeast, light fruit, some banana. The flavour is light bitter light veggie with a watery veggie herb, weak bitter palate. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Quite uninspiring. I would dispute that this was a saison at all. The brewery needs to do better if they want to sell a second bottle of this to anyone who knows anything about beer.

On tap @ Arendsnest. Amber color, cloudy. Firm white head with good lacing. Aroma’s: sour fruit, caramel malts with faint hints of brett. Malts more upfront retronasal. Flavor is light sweet, caramel malts, a bit herbal/spicy, light fruity sourness. Medium bodied. Carbonation is quite low. Finishes with caramel, herbal, ever so slightly bitter.

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Murky brown color, off white head with thin layer retention. Aroma’s: sweet malts, caramel, wheat, sweet spices, a bit sweet fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet with hints of fruity sourness. Medium bodied. After swallowing the flavor almost immediately disappears, with hardly anything left in the finish, which is disappointing. Plenty of room for improvement

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a hazy medium amber with a round bubbly white head. The aroma is light yeast. The flavour is light bitter light sweet with a watery weak pear / yeast palate. Medium bodied with no carbonation at all. Really didn’t enjoy this. The brewer needs to do better.
