750 ml corked (champagne style) brown silk print bottle, bought in Denmark. Brown colour with a slight haziness, pours with a large fluffy off-white head. Very nice aroma of oak, leather, yeast, brown sugar, dried fruits and spices, hints of barnyard. Flavour has plenty of brown sugar, malts, oak and figs, hints of sour berries. Some spices and a certain alcoholic bite in the finish. I had to struggle to finish the big bottle by myself, which means that the brown sugar sweetness combined with 8% ABV becomes a little too much in the end. The big bottles are for sharing! Still - this is another solid abbey beer.

750 ml silk-print corked (champagne style) brown bottle, bought in Denmark. Golden colour, slightly hazy, pours with an enormous, fluffy and lingering white head. Very nice aroma of yeast, oak, brown candy sugar, horse stable and cigars. Slightly spicy and peppery flavour with tolerable maltiness and hops, and a slight alcoholic bite. Aftertaste is okay, but does not last "forever". Not a particularly complex flavour, but a good beer all the same.

Hazy orange beer; good white head. Perfumed, some Curaçao and nutmeg in the nose. Very strange, nearly adstringent malt taste, followed by some fizzy, sweetish main taste, finishing in diacetyl (in a CAVE-AGED beer??). Slightly burning MF, surprisingly light body. I’m disappointed by this. The "bruin" is much more complex and subtle. This is just another dumb blonde. ( tasted under the experimental name of "Grottenbier Blond" )

Bottle. Dark chestnut brown colour, small light brown head. Malty, vinous, brown sugar flavour with liquorice aftertaste. Nice mouthfeel. An almost perfect dubbel IMHO. I want another!

Bottle, 8%, 1.5 years past BB date. A lot like my initial rating, but of course with a little oxidation. It has a hint of paper, but it is quite mellow even though the alcohol is still prominent. I guess I would prefer this beer around its BB date.

Bottle. Yeasty, malty aroma with a hint of metal. Chestnut brown colour, quite stable head. Nice flavour, a little sweet, malty and hoppy. Long bitter aftertaste. I like the mouthfeel, it is creamy without being thick.

Bottle Pours a cloudy medium brown caramel color with a huge foamy off white head that slowly receded leaving tons of sticky blocky lacing. Lots of that funky Belgian twang in the aroma and a slight ascidic note as well. Flavors are tart and musty. Tastes of old aples/pears and I suppose a stanky old Belgian cave. I wonder it they taste the same as an american cave?. Bitter and toasted malty overtones. Smooth soft feel, especially in light of the very active head. Those Belgian cave dwelers can keep it.

(Bottle 33 cl) Greyish orange, hazy beer with a decent head. Classic Belgian wheat beer with loads of fruit and added orange and coriander. Decent but nothing spectacular. 190304

Bottle from Belgium. Dark brown beer. with lots of flavours on the nose, not least raisins and chocolate. For such a strong beer where you would expect lots of sweet alcohol, this has good drying tangy hops on the end. An exceptionally good beer.

Bottle. Orange colour, bit ordinary really, nothing to get too excited about. It does what you would expect from a tripel. Some orangey sweet fruit mixed with a little toffee. Re rat. Belgian yeast orange fruit hop. Decent. 6.6 early rating. On tap at De Papil St Michael's Brugge clear gold good tripel aroma. Good tripel flavour. Candied tangerine and grapefruit flavour some hop on the finish. Decent. Good
