Hazy nut brown, small steady off-white head, lace. Sweet fruity (plum, date, even cumin), yeasty - Westy 12 -like. 3-yrs ageing gives some earthy notes. Loads of brown sugar in the flavor - starts really sweet, earthy notes, fruityness, alcohol kick in the middle. Salty aftertaste. Very Het Anker -like... now I need later vintage to compare.

Tap 2003. Hazy dark amber body with a small white head. Very sharp sweet caramel and sugar aroma. Gentle caramel and spice flavor. Tap 2004. Hazy brown color with a thin fully diminishing head leaving light lacing around the glass. A bit of a licorice aroma and flavor.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 11/04/2008. Clear dark brown body with ruby highlights and a creamy off-white head with light begian lacing. Sweet raisins, rum soaked fruit, caramel, molassas and candi sugar aroma. Raisin and candi sugar flavor with some rum-soaked fruit and caramel. Medium full body wtih rather low carbonation and a syrupy finish. 7/3/7/3/13-3.3 11/28/2005: Dark brown color with a fully diminishing head. Lightly alcoholic aroma. Caramel taste and a syrupy texture 6/3/8/4/16 - 3.7

Amber, nut brown color, small off-white head. Aroma of lemon dish cleanser, toffe and spices. Oak, coffee, spice (clove) flavors. Long hoppy/spicey aftertaste. Quite Christmasy brew and quite different from other Gouden Caroluses. Complex but not totally outstanding like other Het Anker products.

Bottle. Creamy white excelent mostly lasting head. Heavy yeasty and malty aroma. Moderate acitic flavour. Oliy palate. A deasent belgian ale.

Bottle. Slightly fruity/berry aroma. Dark red colour, hint of brown. Small stable creamy head. Very sweet flavour, fruity and berryish. Has a little aromatic hoppiness. Saftevand.

Cask at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Strange to find this on draught. Copper colour with lasting off white head. Hoppy/yeast aroma with sweetish caramel and hop in mouth. Alcohol kick on end. Smoother than in a bottle

Bottled, 75cl champagne cork. A brown beer with a nice tan head. Sweet malty aroma with fruits and some alcohol and christmas-spices. They come back in the flavor, with cardamom and notes of banana. A little too sweet perhaps. I had the beer once again on 061229 from both crown-capped 33cl bottle and 75cl champagne-corked bottle. The smaller bottle had been lagered for two years and had a more mature aroma and flavor, whereas the fresher beer had more cellar in both aroma and flavor. My rating stands untouched as the new rating gave the same total score. (051028)
