Description

330ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish golden colour with tiny chunks floating around and a small, micropored, diminishing, white head. Fruity, yeasty aroma, a touch of peach and white pepper, coriander seed. Taste is slightly sweet fruity, minimally peppery spicy yeasty, notes of apricot, peach, hints of white pepper, coriander seed, cautious citrusy and zesty interludes with orange touch. Farmhouse Wit IPA or so. "[G]een overweldigende combinatie", but not bad.

Disparate cream-coloured head, slow in building, fast gone again over hazy red-amber beer. Sweet-bread, but also slightly sourish aroma. Sourmilkchocolate? Bit fruity too. Bitterish, on a sweet, again quite chocolate-like underbuild. Fusels (!), esters and alcohol, fruity, raisins, plums. No acidity in the main taste, only to return retronasal. Feels surprisingly carbonated, medium bodied, slick. There ’s something here that screams a lot of things - anything but "Bock"...

Small to medium, lightly cream-coloured head over ruby-shot amber-brown beer; Rather sweetish nose, maltsyrup. Dark green leaves, sweet dark bread and a hint at smoke. Sweet-bitterish. Indeed exactly as Be Scotch ales usually are. Retronasal fruity esters on dark(er) malts. Faint resin, if not hoppy. Quite well-bodied, viscous-slick, and good carbonation. Fruity aftertaste, dark fruit as sweet dried plums. Quite stereotypical, really.

Yellow-creamish, small to medium head; veiled orange beer, well-carbonated; Bit woody, dried fruit aromas, yet not smelling sweet. Citrus and herbs. Bit syrupy, maybe. Sweet-bitterish taste. Speculoos herbs, and indeed honey. Sweeter citrus; hint at alcohol. Better bodied, quite slick to viscous. Medium to well carbonated. Not half bad! But this is less IPA then, say, Orval...

Small yellowish head over veiled copperish orange beer, well carbonated. First impressions are alcohol, white candi sugar and toast. Then parsley and spices, citruspeel. Knowing about the elderberry, the nose makes sense but I wouldn’t have guessed blind. In the taste, diluted elderberrysyrup is much more obvious. Again alcohol- and sugarsweetness, some toast. There’s light bitterness backthroat, but not hoppy. Feels quite carbonated, slick but not very dense. Higher attenuation than the sweetness suggests? Not bad, but I can’t get excited about this one.

0.33 l bottle from ’Mitra’ (Hoorn), shared at Marko’s place. Slightly hazy, golden amber with a tan head. Sweetish-malty, smoky aroma of caramel, honey and smoked ham. Sweetish-malty, smoky taste of caramel, smoked ham, sauerkraut and some honey, followed by a short, slightly bitter, smoky finish. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, flat. Quite okay.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Joes. Hazy autumn red color, average sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, sweet, a distant hint of caramel and slightly tea. Hmm somehow these flavors don’t combine really well. Not bad I think but not my thing.
