Description
Life's too short for boring, middle of the road beers. Craft Brewery Kees! stands for tasty, fruity, hoppy flavours and strong dark ales, but there'll always be that 'twist' . That special 'something' that make his beers stand out.

Owner and brewer Kees Bubberman started his brewing career in 2007 at Emelisse, a small regional brewery in Kamperland, Zeeland. Within a couple of years Emelisse became a household name among craft breweries worldwide, thanks to the by British and American beer styles inspired ales, IPA's, strong porters, stouts that Kees Bubberman brewed. Never afraid of trying something new and relying on his experience as a restaurant chef he created more than 30 new beers, including an IPA with Earl Grey tea, barrel aged porters en stouts and strong porters and stouts with coffee. Kees was ahead of his time with experimental flavours like these.

In 2014 Kees Bubberman decided to start his own brewery in his hometown Middelburg. Thankful for the opportunities Emelisse gave him, he felt that it was time to go his own way. Brewery Kees! started in January 2015 and within a year his delicious IPA's, strong porters, Russian Imperial stouts and barrel aged barley wines, porters en stouts found their way in the (beer-)world.

Kees keeps on creating new beers and searching for new tastes, sometimes following and sometimes setting trends.

Bottle from AH Jan Linders. Color: Murky dark brown, light brown head. Aroma: Dark malt combined with fruity Cognac notes. Taste: Dark malt, caramel, caramel fudge, combined with fruity Cognac notes. Tasting a bit artificial and, in my opinion, more like it's aged on wood chips soaked in Cognac than Cognac barrel aged. Although I don't want to doubt Kees' barrel age claim. Light boozy hints. Over medium to full body, below average carbonation. Over moderate to medium sweet, moderate bitterness.
Edit 2026/06/28: Second bottle didn't age very well. Gusher. Brett infection.

On tap at Proeflokaal Arendsnest. Juicy, with citrus zest and tropical fruit. Dry and medium bodied. Nothing particular going on here, but it's a well brewed and tasteful beer anyway. 747414 251109

Can. Sweet, warming, smooth and full bodied. Bourbon, brown sugar, some coffee and roasted malts. Caramel. Nice indeed, but a bit too warming, even for a beer at this strength. 747515 251109

0.33 l can from 'Mr. Hop', best before August 2026. Hazy, pale orange with a medium large, slightly fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, rather fruity, a little dank aroma of orange, mango, passion fruit and hints of grapefruit. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, quite fruity taste of orange, mango, passion fruit and some grapefruit, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly dry finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Solid.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate bubbly head that settles quickly. Aromas of dark caramel, vanilla, chocolate syrup, treacle, and slick roasted malts. Flavors of follow same with emphasis' on rich sweet chocolate. Not as sweet as I was expecting for the high ABV and a bit of a dry bitter finish. A very good pastry stout.
