Description
Life's too short for boring, middle of the road beers. Craft Brewery Kees! stands for tasty, fruity, hoppy flavours and strong dark ales, but there'll always be that 'twist' . That special 'something' that make his beers stand out.
Owner and brewer Kees Bubberman started his brewing career in 2007 at Emelisse, a small regional brewery in Kamperland, Zeeland. Within a couple of years Emelisse became a household name among craft breweries worldwide, thanks to the by British and American beer styles inspired ales, IPA's, strong porters, stouts that Kees Bubberman brewed. Never afraid of trying something new and relying on his experience as a restaurant chef he created more than 30 new beers, including an IPA with Earl Grey tea, barrel aged porters en stouts and strong porters and stouts with coffee. Kees was ahead of his time with experimental flavours like these.
In 2014 Kees Bubberman decided to start his own brewery in his hometown Middelburg. Thankful for the opportunities Emelisse gave him, he felt that it was time to go his own way. Brewery Kees! started in January 2015 and within a year his delicious IPA's, strong porters, Russian Imperial stouts and barrel aged barley wines, porters en stouts found their way in the (beer-)world.
Kees keeps on creating new beers and searching for new tastes, sometimes following and sometimes setting trends.

Keg at BBF 7, Bodegraven, 25/09/15. Very lightly hazed amber with a moderate beige cap. Nose is toffee, dark fruit rinds, bready notes, brown sugar. Taste comprises dark toffee, malt loaf, dates, figs, light yeast, brown bread, trace of spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi trying close with a light boost on offer. Ok for style, masks the ABV well but fails to deliver much in the way of depth for said ABV.

Keg at BBF 7, Bodegraven, 25/09/15. Black topped with a decent tan swirl. Nose is peated malt, light smoke, toffee, toasted brown sugar, smoked gammon, earthy, light charr. Taste comprises more peated notes, barell tones, charr, dark fruit rinds, ashen. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, light warming booze in the close. Ok for a peated impy but perhaps a little heavy handed.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/1/2016. Pours hazy/cloudy orange/amber color with a small dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, spicy rye bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, spicy rye bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Large amount of piney/spicy/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no hop astringency after the finish. Good amount of dryness after the finish from high bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent rye DIPA style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle 330 ml at Chez Sophie on 9th Oct 2015. Slight haze to the orange coloured body, thin white head, hung around for a while. Intense hoppy aroma, grapefruit notes pushing them along . Taste similar with the grapefruit again leading the way, fairly bitter and almost sour in nature. One bottle was enough for me, but I am happy to try more from this guy.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with moderate head. Aromas of sweet dark fruit, toffee/brown sugar, and dark toasted malts. Flavors follow same sweet and smooth with only a hint of the ABV. Excellent for drinking now, but worth putting down a few to see what happens to the sweetness. small bottle though...
