Description
Life's too short for boring, middle of the road beers. Craft Brewery Kees! stands for tasty, fruity, hoppy flavours and strong dark ales, but there'll always be that 'twist' . That special 'something' that make his beers stand out.
Owner and brewer Kees Bubberman started his brewing career in 2007 at Emelisse, a small regional brewery in Kamperland, Zeeland. Within a couple of years Emelisse became a household name among craft breweries worldwide, thanks to the by British and American beer styles inspired ales, IPA's, strong porters, stouts that Kees Bubberman brewed. Never afraid of trying something new and relying on his experience as a restaurant chef he created more than 30 new beers, including an IPA with Earl Grey tea, barrel aged porters en stouts and strong porters and stouts with coffee. Kees was ahead of his time with experimental flavours like these.
In 2014 Kees Bubberman decided to start his own brewery in his hometown Middelburg. Thankful for the opportunities Emelisse gave him, he felt that it was time to go his own way. Brewery Kees! started in January 2015 and within a year his delicious IPA's, strong porters, Russian Imperial stouts and barrel aged barley wines, porters en stouts found their way in the (beer-)world.
Kees keeps on creating new beers and searching for new tastes, sometimes following and sometimes setting trends.

Almost black with thick, creamy head. Aroma has resinous, piney hop and a hint of smoke. Tasty and flavoursome beer. The balance is slightly askew with perhaps too much hop bitterness overwhelming the dark, roasty maltiness.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Clear ruby red to dark red color with a medium sized beige head. Aroma is a bit weird: a hint of malts, sweetish, even a hint of red fruit like strawberries. Taste lightly malts, initially sweetish, lightly alcohol, finishes with a red fruit bitterness. Weird and not as good as expected, although that might be a bit unfair since expectations were so high. Nevertheless, overall a bit disappointing.

Bottle. Orange golden pour, white head. Aroma of yeast, strawberry and wheat. Taste has harsh strawberry, dry grassy yeast, iron and a bitter hoppy finish. Strange brew, not very good.

Bottle shared at home. Almost black with small beige head that leaves a nice ring of bubbles. Fruity up front with sweet berries and stone fruits, espresso, almonds, sweet malts. Taste is medium sweet with long lasting dry espresso bitter finish. Medium bodied with first a slick feel going into a dry slight watery finish. Nice stuff.

On tap, 10.5 % abv, at Haandbryggeriet Beer Festival 2015. Shared with Finn. Espresso head and a jet black body. Roasted aroma, cocoa upfront. More burnt than roasted malts to the taste buds. Hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Roasted ending with a nice touch of dark fruits. Not overly sweet. Full bodied. Well crafted and surely among the best at the festival (Drammen 30.05.2015).

Tap @ In De Wildeman, taster size glass. Golden to amber color, cloudy. Off white head, dense, sticking to the glass. Aroma’s: some malty sweetness and sweet fruit from the glass. Retronasal it’s sweet malts, aromahops and light brett notes. The brett notes disappear after a while which makes it more enjoayble (for me). Flavor is moderate bitter, bretty at first, light caramel. Medium bodied. Firm bitter finish.
