Description
Life's too short for boring, middle of the road beers. Craft Brewery Kees! stands for tasty, fruity, hoppy flavours and strong dark ales, but there'll always be that 'twist' . That special 'something' that make his beers stand out.

Owner and brewer Kees Bubberman started his brewing career in 2007 at Emelisse, a small regional brewery in Kamperland, Zeeland. Within a couple of years Emelisse became a household name among craft breweries worldwide, thanks to the by British and American beer styles inspired ales, IPA's, strong porters, stouts that Kees Bubberman brewed. Never afraid of trying something new and relying on his experience as a restaurant chef he created more than 30 new beers, including an IPA with Earl Grey tea, barrel aged porters en stouts and strong porters and stouts with coffee. Kees was ahead of his time with experimental flavours like these.

In 2014 Kees Bubberman decided to start his own brewery in his hometown Middelburg. Thankful for the opportunities Emelisse gave him, he felt that it was time to go his own way. Brewery Kees! started in January 2015 and within a year his delicious IPA's, strong porters, Russian Imperial stouts and barrel aged barley wines, porters en stouts found their way in the (beer-)world.

Kees keeps on creating new beers and searching for new tastes, sometimes following and sometimes setting trends.

Thanks for sharing! Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ Leuven Innovation Beer Festival. Amber, little white. Nose is weird sugary sweet, onion hops & sweet bread,… Taste is weird herbal, cough syrup, sugar, bread, tad milky, light pine resin,… Bread, herbal & lightly milky body,… Doesn’t really work,… Still trying to love Kees! Beer, at this point I am starting to think that it just might be me.

Bottle shared at Murphy’s Law, Den Haag. Pours hazy amber with a ring off white head. Aroma of weedy hops, lightly herbal notes and some citrus. A little strange for just citra. Flavour is light moderate sweet and over moderate bitter with more of the citra coming out in the palate. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle sample @ Leuven Beer Innovation 2015, shared with the RB Belgian crew.

Intended as a hybrid between saison and IPA. Creamy, stable, sticky, off-white head over a clear orange blonde beer. Lovely aroma of fresh orange juice, peach, white grape, lime peel, butter (diacetyl?), flowers, pear; very vividly fruity onset, lots of exotic fruits and citrus, starfruit, ripe plum, honeyish malt sweetishness, tad caramelly, soft carbo and mellow mouthfeel, smooth with a dry, citrussy, very aromatic, floral hoppiness, with the yeasty and malty sweetness piercing through nicely. I can see how this is an IPA, but the link to saison escapes me a bit. Still, very nice beer regardless of style.

Old style porter with loose, beige head and deep, clear bronze colour with burgundy hue. Lovely perfumey aroma of banana, marzipan, chocolate liqueur, coconut, coffee grounds and a hint of (non disturbing) shoe polish. Soft mouthfeel, full, sweet and a bit powdery, banana, almond, candied dates, lovely smooth caramelly and chocolatey malts, light salmiac accent, bittering in the finish but just a little bit roasted, identifying it as a porter and not a stout; some spicy hops and warming alcohol provide perfect balance. Absolutely delicious to the last drop.

Small off-white head over amberish beer. Fresh hops, bit of sweet grapes. dry, other grains, bitter, even a tad wry. Hops, if less fruity than in the nose. Very slick, medium bodied. Nice! Rye is present but nowhere dominant.

Thanks for sharing! Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ Leuven Innovation Beer Festival. Amber orange, little white head. Nose is weird herbal, medicinal tea, some sweet caramel malts, sugar, far too sweet & sugary, light pine hops. Taste is sugar sweet with bitter herbal plastic, harsh pine, more sugar, lightly metallic. Dull oily body. Not a fan to be honest, it seems like I am still struggling to love Kees! beers despite wanting to.
