Description
110 years of Contreras in a 190 year old brewery. In 1818 Brewery Latte was founded as a typical farm-brewery. In the second half of the 19th century the company was led by Valère Latte who sold the brewery in 1898 to René Contreras. In 1920 René Contreras chose to sell his brewery to his nephew Marcel Contreras. it was Marcel who would transform the brewery into a modern 20th century company. He shaped the buildings as they currently still remain. In 1982 Marcel's son Willy became the sole manager of the brewery. At the start of the 21st century Ann Contreras, the only daughter of Willy Contreras, and her fiancée Frederik De Vrieze gradually took over the daily management of the brewery.

19 May 2018. At De Heeren van Liedekercke. Shared with Anke.
Pours hazy dark orange with a big, lasting, foamy, off-white head; good lacing; lots of small floaties. The aroma contains yeast, unripe peach, mango & pineapple, citrus, bready malt, grass, straw. Light citric sour onset, yeasty, and light to medium hoppy bitter, a bit spicy and bready sweet. Dry, hoppy finish, lingering spices & yeast. Medium to full body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Good beer, typically Belgian though; in the 21st century, this can't hardly be called an IPA any more.

Tap at ML Fontainas. Clear golden with fluffy white head. Sweet malts, soft yeasty touch, dried flowers, light grassy hops, caramel, bready, soft creamy apricot candy. Medium sweet and bitter, with a lasting bittersweet finish. Medium bodied. OK.

$4.99 bottle, Wine Warehouse. Pours amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is stale funky hops, a little yeast, perhaps honey. Flavor is stale hops, resin, lite honey, light caramel. Meh.
