Description
In 2011 we Howling Hops reopened the Cock tavern on Mare street as Hackney’s first brewpub. The brewery expanded a few times but still couldn’t really keep up with the demand. So in 2015 the brewery moved to the current address in the heart of Hackney Wick.
Howling Hops brew bold, modern, uncompromised, flavoursome, generously hopped beers. All our beers are unfiltered, unpasteurised and suitable for vegans. We still stick to our early philosophy of ‘make some interesting beer’, although not every one is different these days. We have a core of 4 beers that we brew regularly, a couple of beers we brew seasonally and every 3 or 4 weeks we brew a different single batch beer.

At the Cock Tavern brewpub. Cask. Hazy gold beer, little white head. Light semi dry palate. Typical Howling Hops rich hoppiness! Long may it continue! Skunky start with good fruity follow through! Bitterish orange, pithy lime, passion fruit. Good hop intensity. Finishes light and dry with bitter lime and grapefruit linger. Good stuff!

Cock Tavern Brewpub. Cloudy amber beer, little off white head. Palate is suprisingly soft and low carb for a Keg beer. Rich fruity hops! Semi sweet orange, pine and tropical fruits. Little passion fruit. Creamy malt underneath. Finishes smooth with more of the same. A superb hop profile but again the condition seems to be a little off - should have been a total belter but it’s very very nice. Hopefully the bottles will crisp up.

Cock Tavern Brewpub. Light haze on this gold beer. Little white head. Palate is soft and smooth. Low carbonation. Juicy orange hops. Marmalade and a touch of lemon and tangerine. Finishes neutral. Great hops as always but I can’t help but feel this beer coulda shoulda been in better condition by their standards.
