Cask at Westow House. It pours darkest ruby with a medium tan head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, chocolate, varnish, treacle, dark fruits and jammy berry. The taste is rich, roasted malt, peppery, pine, varnish, bold bitterness, cola cubes, dark fruit, Dandelion & Burdock, resin, twiglets, treacle and cocoa with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Quite intense, rich and bitter. Really good depth of flavour. A great cask Black IPA.

0.5l bottle. This is a clear light amber red colored one with a nice big bubbly off-white top. Mild aromas. I only get some malty sweet fruity nuances and a little bit of red apple zest. Mild but not bad at all. Tastes quite nice. Feels quite thin and almost what you could call watery in the mouth while the carbonation level is about average and small bubbled. Mild fruity flavors. It has a nice green bitterness but it's also well malty. Nuts are also present in this. Well crafted. Would not mild drinking this again. 21.12.2013

0.5l bottle. A light blurry golden looking one this and it has a small bubbly light lacing white top. It smells of diacetyl and thin watery hops. Not sure it's meant to smell like this, cause there is nothing pure or golden about this aroma. A bit better in the taste, no make that much better in the taste. Still, it's definitely nothing to extraordinary this. A mild gentle but definitely present grassy hoppiness with traces of both caramel and what's left after the wort. Light mouthdrying in the finish and aftertaste. Horrible aroma and a fair (dull) flavor profile with a nice hoppy punch. 25.12.2013

0.5l bottle. This is a deep blurry dark orange looking one with a small lacing and light bubbly grey top. On the nose this gives me a good amount of buttery caramel and diacetyl. A faint orange fruity hint also found but the buttery caramel dominates everything. Not to pleasant to say the least. In the mouth it has a soft oily mouthfeel and it's gently carbonated with small prickling bubbles. Mild bitter all the way. The unwanted diacetyl and butterscotch in the aroma is much more faint, but still present. Soft sugary sweet with floral tones in the finish. Quite ordinary. Smells bad, tastes lightly boring but drinks OK. 30.12.2013

Cask at Haymarket. Pours deep dark black, thin tan head. Aromas are sweet dark malt and citrus hops, no roast in evidence. Taste is also sweet and orange-bitter. Finishes a tad thin, but nice enough.

Pint cask at Nicholson’s pub in canary wharf. Aroma is berry esters and piney hop s. Dark caramel opaque pour with a steadfast cream head. Flavour is choc berry and cherry with a really solid piney bitterness. Some mineral and chalky palate.
