Purchased in a 12-pack at The Beer Store in Ottawa, ON. After the Keystone Light made its way to Canada last year, now we get the full lager. Had most from the bottle while watching the hockey game that Pacioretty got hit by Chara, last night. Now the big test from a glass. Pours a pale golden colour with a white foamy head that disappears quick enough and small lines of lacing remain. Surprising mild malt nose with some light hop at first. Expecting lots of corn, but pretty smooth overall. Obviously nothing fantastic, but just an easy drinking lager that is quite smooth for any hockey game (adjunct warning: might of given me a light headache yesterday after only three bottles).

Bottle label says "brew number 038," whatever that means - Clear medium-copper pour - minimal head that dissipates quickly - slightly grassy noble hops in the nose, but the aroma is mostly moderate caramel sweetness - seems like some subtle vienna and/or munich malt character - medium bodied for such a light beer - the flavor is a fairly nice balance of crisp noble hops and sweet, toasty malts - the finish is mostly lingering toasted grains and moderate sweetness - more like a vienna than a "premium lager" - much better than I expected.

Sampled from the tap at 2010 FOBAB. Poured a hazy gold with a dark tan head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma had notes of tart citrus fruits with funk and a bit of biscuit. Flavor had building tart citrus note with light fruit and a bit of funk that came out in the finish. What can I say, a surprise.

Bottle at the Sudwerks beerfest. Pours gold with a lot of white head. Bready aroma. Bready flavor. Mildly bitter. Actually ok compared to most macro lagers.

12 oz bottle - according to the label, this beer is only available in Colorado, which is obviously a lie - but I must admit, that claim, along with the fact that the bottles are actually individually numbered, are probably the reasons that caused me to buy it - so, bravo, AC Golden, for your successful marketing ploy - however, the props stop there, I’m afraid, because this is a pretty weak-ass amber ale - metallic and overly sweet up front, but at least the sweetness is fairly clean - some toasted grain flavor - its saving grace is the noble hop bite at the end, which is actually fairly tasty - as stated, it is fairly clean, and lacks any major flaws, it’s just fairly pedestrian.

On draught at the Dublin Irish Festival (As Dublin Irish Festival Stout). The beer is dark brownish-black with a thin light brown head that diminishes quickly. Stringy lacing doesn’t stick but it is served in a plastic cup. Light roasty aroma with notes of malt and chocolate. Medium, smooth body with flavors of roasted malt, sweet chocolate and a bit of coffee. The finish is roasty with a short malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Amber coloured body with strong ruby highlights and a decent looking tan head that tops the beer. Aroma of strong malt, a light spiceyness that stays in the nose for a second and a very light hoppiness. Light to Medium-bodied; Faint hoppiness that starts the taste fading to a bit of a maltiness with a subtle spice character all ending with a bit of a bittering tone. Aftertaste shows the bitterness and nothing else really. Overall, one-dimensional and not good at all in the taste. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia way out in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 13-December-2005.

It was an old bottle with a date of January 2006. It shows no signs of age however. There was a sound of escaping gas when I removed the cap, and the beer is well carbonated. The beer is amber and there are lots of bubbles and a long lasting head. Aroma is pure malt. Flavor is more malt as well, with a light addition of cinnamon and nutmeg. I would call this a Vienna, and it is actually a good beer, even for being old.

Amber color. Poor aroma. The flavor is ok, with just a lot of caramel, and correct bitterness. Easy.

Reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. Aroma of caramel and cinnamon, lightly maderized. In mouth, a nutty roasted malt, with definite oxidation, but still quite decent hopping. A nice offering from one of the swill giants. Bought at CJs, Potsdam, NY, Feb. 2006. BB Jan 24 2006.
