On tap @ Kalfaret Brygghus, Bergen. Pours light amber, which is a bit strange for a brown ale. Not a lot of aroma here, but some notes of nuts get through. Flavour gets me wondering what’s really going on here, with a strange bitterness dominating the picture. It’s not that it’s really bad, it’s just that it’s more fitting for a British bitter.

On tap @ Kalfaret Brygghus, Bergen. Pours a light golden, with a small creamy head. Aroma is light fruits and caramel malts. Not a lot of taste in this one, but surprisingly for the ABV some notes of alcohol.

On tap @ Kalfaret Brygghus, Bergen. Pours yellow, with a very small head. Aroma is weird, almost a bit off, with buttery bread and malts. Flavour is nothing special, with sweetly malts and hints of somewhat spicy hops.

Sampled @ Kalfaret Brygghus. A clear dark reddish-ruby body with a lasting small creamy head that sticks around. Not extreme on the aroma, still, tones of sweet sticky caramel with some chocolate and something that reminds me of yeast. Not bad. Something near a mild creamy texture on this one, and flavor wise it's more like a light sweet porter. Some chocolate and caramel hints here. Ends with a thin sour hint in the finish and a sweet lasting aftertaste. Not a extreme stout in any way, but it's light drinkable, it will probably please the crowd, and I guess it's nice enough. 16.02.2012

Sampled @ Kalfaret Brygghus. Pours a clear golden body with a small bubbly and sidesticking just off-white head. Quite subtle and low on the aroma - not that I was expecting a hoppy aroma bomb, but still, disappointingly mild. Light malty, a bit sweet perhaps and also a bit soapy actually. It has a average carbonation level with a light watery texture. Also a bit soapy in the flavor. Sweet and mild grainy. Ends quite quickly with a low bitterness. What you can expect I guess. Nothing more, just a bit less. 16.02.2012

On tap at Kalfaret. Has a very deep clear red-brown colour with a off-white to light beige small head. Lovely aromas of roasted malt and coffee, with some dark chocolate. More coffee and dark chocolate in the flavours with more clearly sweet malt. Nice roasted tones in the end. A oily and silky mouthfeel. Surprisingly flavourful despite what it seems to be a filtered ale.

On tap at Kalfaret. Has a clear redbrown colour with a small white head. Not very aromatic but i sense some sweet malts and caramel. The flavours reminds me of typical british ales with a sweet and malty flavour with leather caramel standing out. Its all rounding off with a balanced pleasant bitterness. Slick but a bit thin mouthfeel. This beer is more alike a british bitter than a brown ale in my opinion.

On tap at Kalfaret. Looks clear pale straw-coloured with a small white head. Is there any aromas here? Probably less aromas because of the slim tasting glasses. Slightly aromas of some grains and fruity esters, pear. At least more flavourful in the mouth but nothing new, just more grainy and the classic strong pale lager flavours of fruity esters towards some alcohol. Reminds me of other types of nordic strong pale lagers. Nothing to shout hurray for. Not my favourite style.

On tap at Kalfaret. Clear and dark yellow straw-coloured beer with a small and sticky white head. Very sweet aromas of strawberry bubble gum, and some sweet corn as well. The flavours doesnt deviate much from the aromas, and Im left with a feeling that the beer is lacking a lot for beeing a proper pilsener but its still tasteful. There is not much bitterness in it, and lacks the typical grainy dryness.

On tap at Kalfaret. Looks very hazy with a light orange colour. A small off-white head. Has the classic hefeweizen aromas of fruity yeast and banana and some spices and grains. I find much of the same in the flavours but only for a second, and the beer lacks some aftertaste. Feels a bit watery and thin. A decent weizen that looks and smells good, but disappoints after short time in the mouth.
