Thin white head disappears quckly. Brown body with some carbonation. Sweetish peachy hop aroma with notes of honey. Taste is bitterish caramel and roasted almonds with peachy hop notes. Thin watery wooden bitter aftertaste. Definitely an English bitter, but the mouthfeel is a bit thin for me. Not bad. (0.5l draft. Rated in February 2007 at the brewpub.)

On tap at the brewpub. A dark, reddish brown beer, clear, with a small beige head. Slightly smoked nose, sweetish and caramel-like, with roasted malt. Sweet, roasted flavor, quite hoppy and bitter, with caramel and malt too. Tiny smoke note in the flavor as well, and there’s also evidence that it’s stronger than most of the other beers from Kalfaret, as there’s some alcohol flavor. Full-bodied, slightly sticky, warming mouthfeel. Fruits, roasted malt, caramel finish with some alcohol. It’s rather unusual with the smoke in a bock, but it was giving the beer a nice twist. Not the typical dunkler bock, but sure nice. (080502)

On tap at the brewpub. It has a small, almost beige head over a clear, golden to copper body. The aroma has fruity notes, but most notable is the toffee, which is close to butterscotch, without crossing that border. In the mouth, on the other hand, butterscotch is certainly present, without being overpowering. There’s also toffee and some fruityness, and some bitterness towards the end, which is quite nice and surprisingly fruity. Medium to full body and a bit too effervescent maybe. A pleasant sessionable beer. (080502)

On tap at the brewpub. A clear, next-to golden body with a small, white head. Quite fruity aroma with malt and grains. Nice fruityness in the flavor too, along with grains and a pleasant bitterness. Medium body and decent level of carbonation. Fruity and malty finish with some grains and a decent bitterness. Refreshing, easy to drink and quite good, for a Norwegian pilsner at least. (080502)

On tap at the brewpub. The clear, golden pour with a dense, small off-white topping reveals a caramel-sweet unoffensive aroma with some floral and fruity notes. Really boring thoug. That goes for the flavor as well, malty and pale-lagerish, with some fruityness, but someone left out most of the hops when formulating the reciepe for this beer. Medium body. The finish has some fruityness to follow the grainy flavor. Dead boring. (080502)

On tap at the brewpub. It pours a semi-transparent pale yellow body with a small white head. Banana, citrus and bubblegum aroma. Some cloves as well. Way too weak on the nose, but not foul at all. Bubblegum starts the flavor show, some sweetness arrives in the middle, and in the finish there’s some cloves, but as the aroma, the flavor is too weak. Medium body and quite low on co2. Easy to drink, easier to forget. (080502)

On tap@the brewery. Very nice, clear, deep ruby red body with a creamy beige head. Aroma has malt and caramel. Flavor is malt, bread, hops, caramel and sweet fruity. Body is smooth, dry and balanced with a fine long finish. This is definitively the best so far from Kalfaret. Looking forward to more of this kind.

On tap@the brewery. Nice, clear amber body with a small light beige head. Aroma is caramel malt. Flavor is slightly roasted malt and caramel with a discrete bitterness. Medium body and short finish. This beer could go as a typical Norwegian Christmas beer for sale in regular shops e.g. below 4,8% alcohol. It’s a bit better than some of our mainstream “bayer” but I think this might have been more balanced with a brew not considerate the Norwegian alcohol law. And why should they? Only selling their beer at the brewery. A bit more strength, malt and hops would be nice, this is a sign of a brew on the right track but not particular exiting at the moment.

On tap@the brewery. Clear, pale golden body with a thin white head. Almost no aroma at all. Refreshing light fruity flavor with some bitterness. Medium to light body, short finish. Some fruit in the finish, but missing the bitterness very fast.
