Heretic Brewing Company
Microbrewery
in Fairfield,
California,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Heretic Brewing Company
Established in 2011
We started by sharing a building with another brewery in 2011, but we always brewed our beer ourselves. Within the first six months we realized there wasn’t enough space for two breweries in one building, so we began the search for a new place. By 2013, we had built a new, modern brewery in the wonderful city of Fairfield, California and moved all our operations there, including our new distillery.

Keg at Mother Kelly’s, Bethnal Green, London. A hazy golden coloured pour with a thin white head on top. Hoppy, malty, caramel, rye aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, malty, caramel, rye. Quite a good session IPA.

Can. Dark amber color with a thick tan head. Plenty of sheet lacing. A pleasant aroma of citrus and florals with moderate malt. Taste is on the sweeter side, hoppy, and nutty. Good hop presence, but not bitter. Very smooth. Feels like it works as intended.

Keg at Brewdog bristol. Aroma is tart red cranberry, sweet unrefined sugars, raisin, little raisin, nutty and tangy berry. Flavour is composed of nutty, cakey malts, boozy dried fruits, sweet unrefined sugars. Palate is pretty sweet verging on cloying, moderate carbonation. Lingering unrefined sugars and low Belgian yeast character.

Primo Diablo, sample kindly shared by Ai at the Heretic Tap Takeover Event, clear gold with a thick head of foam, it has a surprisingly hoppy fruit aroma with just a dash of earthy habanero. The taste gives you that habanero burn but it is much more balanced than most chili beers and thus more drinkable. Solid which for me who’s not a fan of spicy food is saying something.

As AHA Saison, 6%, on tap at Craft Beer Base’s Heretic Tap Takeover. A clear light gold with a wispy head. The nose is fruity, peppery and rich belgian yeast notes. Med-light bodied with a zesty carbonation. The taste is white pepper, white wine fruit notes, some spice and a very dry finish. Quite good.

Bottle from HomeBrewStuff. Very fruity for a Belgian, pink tinged brew, thin wispy head. Aroma equal parts malt, yeast and hibiscus. Half fruit beer, half Belgian. Rather enjoyed by two non-beer drinkers, a bit too far on the fruit side for my liking to be rated as a Belgian.

Tap at Watering Hole. Hazy golden color with a nice soapy white head. Great aromas of green pineapple, tangerine, papaya and bright citrus flavors along with some resin on the nose as well. Taste is fairly similar with the tangerine and some strong caramel notes coming on the finish. Fairly bitter. Decent.

Bottling date of 05.18.15.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a nice looking dark hazy red almost brown color with a nice transparency about it. A one and a half finger-ed white to off white foamy head dissipated within less than two minutes. Yeah, that head really stuck around longer than a lot of other beers I’ve had. Nice! Lacing was somewhat thick and foamy.
The smell started off with bitter citrus over bitter pine. Its sharp and strong and allows a nice little bit of caramel underneath to balance.
The taste was mostly bitter with a nice underscore of sweet between the caramel and the hops. A light caramel to bitter citrus rind scores in the aftertaste and leads to a semi-dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly nice sessionability about it. Carbonation hits nicely as an American Strong ale - decent bitter harshness but still balanced by caramel sweetness to not be overly done.
Overall, I say this was a nice beer, I’d have again.

Bomber. Pours a very dark brown color with a medium white head. A big smoky, nutty, huge chocolate nose. The flavor is dark milky chocolate, ash, toast, big nutty flavors, gets that juicy purple flavor of hazelnut. Very good. Put this on ice cream- not me, I’ll drink it, but someone can. Awesome. Metallic.
