Draught. Golden beer with a thin white head. Grapefruit and tropical fruit aroma. Grapefruit, pine, apricot, tropical fruit hop flavors with some sweet malt backing. Nice bitterness. Finish is a little woody/grainy.

Slightly hazy gold colour. The hop aroma is bright and clean, all citrus and florals. Fresh bread provides the backbone of the beer, with tropical fruit, citrus and floral hop notes. The bitterness is assertive - almost too resiny but nice. A bit of an envelope pusher in the way it approachs the West Coast IPA theme, this is a well-constructed beer just inside the boundaries of reason.

Draft, Amber beer with a creamy off-white head. Nice citrus aroma with some pine. Pine resin and citrus flavors that coat your mouth. Grapefruit with a bit of sweetness. Very hoppy and the bitterness lingers with the fruitiness. Very nice.

A light barnyard aroma, and a little oak, Cloudy orange beer. A very sour beer, with grapefruit and some wheat. I would have said I was drinking a Belgian gueuze if I didn’t know better. Excellent.

Bottled at RBESG. Cloudy amber, lively head. Striking Cantillon-like citric nose. The freshening citric acid dominates, but undrenath there is loads of flavours, like buttery malt, some red wine and toffee. Very drinkable despites it’s complexity with many lambic like aspects. An awesome beer, and my allround favourite at RBESG ’05.

(Bottle 37,5 cl) Hazy amber golden with a handsome head. Slightly tart nose with a weak, fruity touch. Loads of malt in here and again this light, rather refreshing tartness. Reminds me of a Belgian Kriek. Lovely with an incredible complexity in the long aftertaste. 120805

An unclear orange beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sour - like a Flemish sour ale - combined with notes of oranges and peaches. The flavor is also sour - again as a Flemish sour ale - with notes of wood as well as hints of the alcohol, and with a dry end. It is slightly one-dimensional, and the body is slightly thin. Thanks to Aaron for bringing this to RBESG.

375mL Batch 1 bottle, from The_Beer_God, thanks so much, Mike! Consumed all to myself on 7/15/2005. Served in a lambic flute (why the hell not!) starting at about 48 degrees and progressively warmer from there.

How about a top 10 reasons why I love this beer so much?
1. American but not Americanized
2. A beautiful and tempting sourness can be sensed from the nose.
3. Warm, light fruity tones, and very soft, approachable barrel character, with a delicate yet vibrant yeastiness. Not to mention a wonderful, permeating strength to the aroma.
4. No foaming when opened, unfiltered, unpasteurized, moderate head, with perfect retention and tons of lacing. Brilliant, tiny bubbles.
5. Another one of those beers you don’t want to stop sniffing. Funky and charming, it takes a mountain to remove the glass from your nose.
6. Such a deliciously seductive acidity.
7. Though I don’t even care much for Chardonnay, and am generally skeptical of barrel-aging, this is superbly done and most importantly, nowhere near overdone.
8. Perfect mouthfeel, to my taste, with delicate, tiny bubbles, tingly and bursting all over the palate to provide wood, apricots, peaches, nectarines, white pepper and light apples.
9. The brettanomyces are noticeable but do not dominate the beer, an awesome accomplishment for American brewing.
10. A 375mL bottle goes down WAY too fast. At my last sip, it seems like I just took my first.

Great stuff, Vinnie! Cant’ wait to see how this ages, and if it ages anything like I think it will, I’ve got to get me some more.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a pale opaque yellow with a white head. Tart, salty Bretty nose - somewhat medicinal. Medium body, a subtle tartness but still you can feel the yeasty Belgian base beer underneath. Tartness grows as you dig into into this beer, still salty. Citrusy. Quite sessionable. 030711

(Bottle 65 cl) Hazy, pale golden with a very fine, creamy head. Sourish nose, fresh and citrusy. Quite light-bodied, sourness in the flavours also. Distinct Brett character - like a light version of Gueuze Very fresh and quenching. 6/3/7/4/14=3.4 170705

RBSG Excellent lacing follows the slow fall of the large white head produced by this medium yellow brew. Tart aroma comes from the glass. The sourness in the flavor follows the aroma predictably. The light body is lemony sweet at the finish, but not quite my cup of tea with the sourness that precedes it.
