Description

4-pack of cans from my local Métro store. Pours a clean ruby-copper colour with a foamy-fizzy, small-bubble, beige head, average retention and some decent lacing. Fruity aromas of apples, grapes, cherries and pears with hints of alcohol and spices. The taste is unfortunately not as good with notes of weird cereal, almost metallic. Gets a little better with time with some of the fruit that comes back, and the apples that linger. Not as good as their APA and IPA, but still an interesting brew and the best brewery so far for gluten-free beers.

After the disaster of Golden Ale and APA let’s try this one with no expectations. Best before 01.12.2014, so just in time... Opening it, made a mess on the table as it exploded out as usual... pour pure cream expanding into a massive foam, this time i did it smart and used a very large tulip. Smell is alcoholic already with apple and hoppy notes, actually the american hops thing is pretty inviting. Light orange color, hazed, under a massive creamy head, american hops on the nose. Well aroma isn’t that bad either, sugary grains resembling caramel and decise hops, yeast here and there. Taste is mild sweetish with a decise hoppy finish. Short finish, incredibly low carbonation as how excited it was, medium bodied still being quite watery.
Would say surprisingly that this does taste somehow as an IPA, the lemony/grapefruity hops is there for sure, i’ts lacking the malty backbone and has a weird appleish edge i don’t like, but being this a gluten free one, can’t say it’s marvelous but they sure put some effort into this, hence bonus points for this.

4-pack of cans from my local Métro store. Pours a clean golden colour with a bubbly white head that stays a while and creates foamy lacing. Fresh hoppy nose of grassy notes. Hints of pine, fruits and Belgian yeast candy. Decent hop in the taste as well with medium bitterness. Nice dry finish. Again, hard to see that this brew is gluten-free. This brewery really knows how to brew the best beers in this range.

341 ml bottle. Pours a brownish red with a small, short lived, tan head. Roasted malt aroma with caramel and nuts. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel and nuts with a slightly dry, bitter finish. Medium body with a watery texture and fizzy carbonation. Pretty tasty for a gluten free beer.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out floral hops, some citrus zest, and dry crackery malt. Flavour is quite hoppy, with piney and citrusy hops, with some floral notes, and a very thin dry crackery malt backing. Had I not known this was gluten free, I probably wouldn't have picked up on it, but confirmation bias makes me think there is something slightly different here. All in all though, this is a well-brewed IPA. Nice stuff.

Can sample at Atlantic Beer Festival Moncton. Clear deep amber color, white edge head. Aroma of light, watery caramel. Taste is sweet caramel and toffee. An inoffensive and easy drinking example of the style.

A clear light gold pour with a thin soapy head. Weird yoghurt grape & fruity aroma that is a bit white wine like. Med-light bodied with a slightly rough mouthfeel. The taste is pretty good fruity vanilla & grapes again somewhat white wine like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It pours a clear light straw gold. It has a fruity floral & somewhat catpiss aroma. A medium body with a smooth body. The taste is earthy lemon & spices with a bit of a chalky finish & hints of catpiss. Alright overall and pretty good for a gluten-free beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

34cl bottle. GAH! Just right to quote Frank’s review: "Holy crap this stuff is bad. It is made from millet, corn and sugar rather than your usual malt and/or adjuncts and somehow tastes like a bland, bitter apple cider gone horribly wrong". Ultra pale yellow with particles in suspension, thin disappearing head, smells bad already. Cider (and I don’t like cider), sour green apple, lemon, white wine. Metallic bitterness, thin body, acidic, alcohol noticeable already. Not for me, sorry.
