27 January 2019. At Goeste Festival, Ghent. Shared with Anke! Pours hazy black with a lasting, thin, frothy, beige head; little lacing. Aroma of coffee roast, coffee pad, toast, 'basic' fondant, earth, wet leaves, chestnut, chocolate cake. Taste is light malty sweet, quite nutty, chestnut & walnut with a hint of dark chocolate; light to medium roasted bitter then with 'basic' coffee & an earthy note, vague sourish blackcurrant in the back. Dryish, toasty, herbal hoppy finish, lingering coffee (pad), some chocolate powder. Light to medium body (at best), watery texture, soft carbonation. Rather short & too basic, bland palate... Needs some steroids!

Saison with quince by Broers, a brewery in the Meetjesland region northwest of Ghent. Bottle from Dranken De Moor. Egg-white, loose and thin head, breaking open very quickly and eventually all but lost, over a pale yellowish straw blonde beer with vague greenish tinge, misty but perturbed by lively sparkling. Aroma of indeed quince but in a 'raw' kind of way, like hard unripe pear and green apple, embedded in hints of white bread pulp, lime flesh, chalk, raw rhubarb, cucumber, straw, dust. Crisp 'green fruitiness' in the onset, unripe apple and pear again so likely the effect of the quince, some lime-like fruity sourishness associated with it as well but remaining low in sweetness, medium fizz, smooth but soapy mouthfeel; cereally, bit thinnish pale malt body with this green unripe fruit accent lingering and even turning a little bit wry, especially when it begins to blend with a leafy, medium long yet nowhere harsh hop bitterness; some 'dusty' yeast notes and a notable chalkiness in the end as well. Decent and original fruit beer, a saison perhaps in its crispness and quenching properties, with an unusual choice of fruit. Dry and refreshing, I must admit I expected worse.

330ml bottle, from trade cant recall who (shivandragon i think!). Pours dark, almost black, large tan head that takes its time to recede! Aroma brings some pleasant hoppy citrus, hoppy pine. Medium to full bodied with slick chocolate taking charge, some light roast nestled underneath alongside good fruity citrus. Cocoa appears more on the nose after a few sips showing the beers true chocolatey intent. Very enjoyable.

Thanks to sharing RB crew. Sampled bottled @ Gents Bierfestival 2018. Golden orange, small white. Nose is quite metallic, dull, iron, faint glue,… Surprisingly bland beer, neutral grain, orange, metallic, vague kettle sour, almost mineral, overall surprisingly neutral.
