Bottle at the "Lets celebrate the fact that Dean is already the Mayor of M&S Den Haag even though it’s only been open for 24 hours tasting!". Poured a clear dar brown with a thin off white head. The aroma is malt hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a smoky malt hop bitter woody palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap @ the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - opaque black, gloopy in the glass and with a decent head. Nose - intense, blackjacks with undercurrents of smoke, earth and perhaps a dry stout ’’charcoal’’ note. Some roast too. Taste - as per the nose but even more intense. Palate - medium to full bodied with a creamy texture. There’s an obvious alcohol note but this seems very much in proportion with the ’’sweetie’’ note. Great length, very elegant. Overall - it’s obvious that the base beer is outstanding but the confectionery adds another dimension still. Everything is in the right place and it’s very very tasty. A lovely lunchtime sampling session at the Stockbridge Tap but this beer completely eclipsed everything else.

Cask at The Stockbridge Tap. Black body with a medium tan head that holds well. Excellent lacing. Aroma of liquorice, plum and chocolate. Lovely flavour of Blackjacks and dark fruits. Smooth, sweet and easy drinking, not dry or peppery. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Faint carbonation prickle. A luscious, unusual Porter that gets the Blackjack flavour spot on.

330ml bottle from drinkmonger, Edinburgh. Hazy golden orange pour, very lively off-white head. Aromas of coffee and floral hops, light malt. Taste has more of the same, slight funky note, exaggerated by the high carbonation. OK.
