Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. Long-lasting gusher! It pours cloudy deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, coffee, toast, earth, toasted oat and mild acidity. The taste is roasty, earth, toast, dry-roast, coffee, light smoke and burnt cocoa and dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Interesting,,,,

This beer courtesy of Craig, thanks very much my friend! Consumed at home in the garden Sunday 11th August 2013 Black with large beige gead, very lively but thankfully poured in the garden, christ this is lively. Just a hint of a sour edge, its fruity and yes there is a little Christmas cake edge. There is no heat but I feel that I can taste a bit of chilli, little sticky. It’s fine, thanks again Craig. 500ml Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours dark brown with tan head, good lacing. Aromas are sweet caramel and light roast. Taste has more sugar, but the bitterness is not quite sufficient to balance things out. Enjoyable beer though.

Sugary chocolate aroma, dark toast, light earth, some roast, hints of chocolate cake. Light to medium sweet flavor with dusty cocoa, light rubber, dirt, earth. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly tangy dark malts to finish with dusty and chalky cocoa, bitter chocolate, more dirt. Good.

Aroma: Pink grapefruit with a hint of spicy pepper.

Appearance: Hazy amber body with a thin white head. Flat carbonation. Light lacing.

Taste: Fruity hop and malt sweetness before a biting peppery spice kicks in. Strong alcohol taste. Not particularly moreish, even with just a 1/3 pint.

Palate: Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Flat carbonation.

Overall: Very unusual, but a bit too harsh and boozy for my liking. My least favourite Elixir beer so far, but at least they keep trying something different.
