Bottle 0,5ltr: One of the granddaddy’s of England. A Dark brown ale with some roasted taste, also some choclate taste.

Rocky off white head on a still chestnut coloured body. Malt, liquorice & spiced aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & creamy. Toffee, malt, cinnamon, aniseed & berry tastes with a fruity finish.
didn't have high hopes for this but it's very good.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Black colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Flavour with the same elements, but not as sweet as the aroma made me fear. Interesting brew.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Waitrose. Pours clear, pale copper with a frothy, off-white head. Light sweet flavour with notes of toasted malts, a little English yeast, earthy and leafy hops, a little citrus peel. Light bodied with average carbonation. Balanced finish, clean bitterness, nutty accents, earth. Tasty and drinkable.
