We’re a small family-owned brewery tucked away in the village of Tongham, in the heart of the old Surrey hop-growing region. Still an independently owned brewery, Hogs Back owe much of their success to their iconic, flagship real ale 'TEA' (Traditional English Ale) - a firm favourite of cask-conditioned real ale drinkers throughout the UK and a multi-award winning brew year-in, year-out.

Bottle. [ Thanks to Enjoyit ] Clear amber color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, vintage, fruit, plum, honey. Flavor is moderate sweet and light light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat to soft. (011107)

275ml bottle from Bentalls, Bracknell. Slightly hazy gold colour with a thin white head; aroma is fruity and spicy, with peach and apricot; syrupy sweet and very fruity, with some bitterness; warming alcohol to finish with gentle spice and a sticky finish. One to sip slowly.

Bottle at home, thanks to my mate Bill for this ... Good copper colour... light fruit nose ... Decent enough main beer , little balanced fruit malt but its too drying bitter in linger for me... decent enough session ale.

Cask at the Claude Du Vall (JDW), Camberley. Golden colour, but flat and lifeless with just a ring of whiet head; fruity aroma; very sweet with orange and apricot flavours, a slight bitterness then develops but doesn’t stay for long. Disappointing for Hop Back.

Bottle from Waitrose. Amber with a moderate, off-white head. Aroma of fruity malt with a few earthy hops. The flavour was of red fruit and a hint of toffee, with a decent dry finish. Enjoyable.

Cask@GBBF2007. Deep golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is nectar, very wooden and has some slight honeyishness in it also. Flavour is honey, fruits, hops, earth and quite much wood. Really wellbalanced and pleasant brew with dry bitter hoppy finish.
