Rating #6900! Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice slightly opaque brown glow along with a thinnish, relatively quick-dying deep tan and light beige head. Aroma of ridiculously nice coffee, canella, condensed milk, lactose, alcohol, vanilla, allspice, coconuts, toffee and a good deal of aniseed. Full-bodied; Strong rich lactose and full cream with a ton of vanilla and canella noticeable up front with a ton of light malts, coffee, earth, light nuts, grain, coconuts, anise and even a faint hint of lemongrass and curry leaves. Aftertaste is very deep, intensely complex and rich with the roasted malt, alcohol, coffee, earth, toffee and caramelised sugar notes with a super assertive finish of coconuts, curry and a few hundred vanilla pods here - this is very vanilla-y in a great way. Overall, a very nice and complex Imperial Porter that shows amazing characteristics that blend so nicely and hit strong, but also are complex, balanced and well situated amongst the 15,0% abv that the time has done wonders and is seemingly at the right time to drink, but another year or two might have been good, as this wasn't too thin yet. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Seaway Party Store in Grand Haven, Michigan on 09-September-2015 for US$16,99 (a lot of money up there) sampled at home in Washington on 22-June-2018, sort of close to 3 years after purchase as Beer Rating #6900!!!

22 ounce bottle into snifter, 2018 vintage bottling. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, coconut, vanilla, cream, toffee, brown sugar, toasted oak, rum, maple, marshmallow, fudge, nuts, and brown bread; with light notes of coffee, raisin, fig, herbal, and oak/toasted earthiness. Slight touch of booze in the aromas as it warms. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, brown sugar, and rum barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, coconut, vanilla, cream, toffee, brown sugar, toasted oak, rum, maple, marshmallow, fudge, nuts, and brown bread; with light notes of coffee, raisin, fig, herbal, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness and rum/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, coconut, vanilla, cream, toffee, brown sugar, toasted oak, rum, maple, marshmallow, fudge, nuts, brown bread, light dark fruit/herbal, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, brown sugar, and rum barrel flavors; with a nice roasted bitter/sweet and rum/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and rum/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Slightly increasing warmth of 15%, with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing flavored imperial porter! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, brown sugar, and rum barrel flavors; extremely smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the huge ABV. This tastes about half as much on the ABV level. Extremely well balanced between rich malts, coconut/brown sugar, and barrels. Perfect integration of barrels, which complement the base beer perfectly. Not overly roasty. Still prefer the regular BBA version, but this was extremely impressive. This was way better than the Scotch(I still really enjoyed); which was an onslaught of Laphroaig peat smoke/brine, that was a bit rough. This is way smoother. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall tan head that fades relatively quickly. Aroma of oatmeal, grain, prunes, raisins, caramel, toffee and a bigger dose of earth along with a faint hit of alcohol noticeable near the end. Medium-bodied; Strong oatmeal and grain flavours at first with a large bitterness of coffee and a ton of chocolate, coupled with more of a deep, oaked and dry maltiness that shows some earth, but more of the toffee, oatmeal and caramelised sugar sweetness. Aftertaste is deep, complex and sweet with a ton of bitterness, some chocolate and coffee is also there, but fairly thin, considering the oatmeal involved here along with the the malts and even some smoked flavours as well. Overall, an interesting beer that shows some sides of a good Imperial Stout, but also a touch too thin, simplistic and single-dimensional, whereas the style really calls for a bit more. Nice to sample, but considering those involved in brewing this beer, and there should be a bit more, especially in terms of complexity and depth. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Siciliano's in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 13-June-2017 for US$3,39 almost exactly a year after purchase to celebrate the end of one Hockey Season and the upcoming start of the next Red Wings' Season, while at home in the city of Washington on 07-June-2018.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 5/11/2018. Overall this is an awesome scotch barrel aged imperial porter. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coconut, brown sugar, and scotch barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. A bit rough on tannins at first, but smoothed out as it warmed. This is definitely 50/50 character between Laphroaig scotch and No Rules base beer. Worth a shot if you love Islay scotch, you are going to hate it if not. A very enjoyable offering. I was definitely a fan.
