Shared from a 22 oz bottle at home on Christmas eve. Pours almost black with a thick tan head. Aroma of dark sweet cherries and cinnamon. Carries over to the flavor with bittersweet chocolate notes. BItter finish.

On tap at Churchkey, pours a translucent purpelish with some creamy off white head. Nose of raisin, sugar, some cake icing, burnt sugar. Flavor of raisins, figs, sweet, cheap rum, malt, chocolate, rum cake. Full, sticky finish. Heavy handed.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Argonaut Denver. Pours a bit hazy maroon appearance with an off white head. Juicy cherry, berry, pomegranate, light herbal bitter aroma. Tangy caramel, cherry, pomegranate, herbal, a touch woody, a bit strong flavor. Bleh.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Argonaut Denver. Pours a hazy, dark red orange appearance with a big, light brown head. Spicy hoppy, mild grapefruity, herbal/earthy, toasty malty aroma. Prickly spicy, big herbal hoppy, somewhat piney, nicely toasted malty flavor. Nice session beer.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Argonaut in Denver. Pours a deep black appearance with a decent, very dark brown head. Anise, dark chocolate, sickly sweet malty, incredibly boozy aroma. Incredibly cloying, syrupy black licorice, dark chocolate, very woody, fig/dark fruity, grape drank, overly boozy flavor. Hard to take more than a sip at a time. There seems to be a lot of flavor but it’s boozy as hell and burns like a mofo on the finish. Is it a drain pour? Nah, I wanna get loaded tonight.

Bottle from WIne Source, Baltimore. Amber with a big, frothy, off-white head. Peaches and tangerines aroma, with a touch of floral hops. Solid, sweetish malt flavours, with more fruit and a dryish finish. Ok.

Brown pour with thick head. Aroma is rye bread toast, at least it seems that way to me. Light malty flavour, the barrel doesn’t smack you in the face, ek se. Sweetish finish.

Draft at Beer Run. Pours a dark brown color with a thin frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Big malty aroma with notes of chocolate, raisins, caramel and booze. The taste is chocolate, toffee, booze, a decent amount of smoke and a bitter hop finish. Full bodied and fairly hot. Nice, but these anniversary beers are getting kinda boring. What’s next, 17 MALTS! OHMIGOD!
