Bourbon and fudge nose, rather hot. Mahogany, thin yellow head. Full body, chewy. Molasses and bourbon flavor, finishes with horehound. Alcohol is inintrusive.

Molasses and walnut nose, some butter notes. Mahogany, medium yellow head. Walnut and charred oak flavor, dry and hot. with only lesser notes of molasses. Little hop flavor for a beer build as featuring 11 of them. Maybe they mean 11 buds instead of varieties.

Molasses and walnut aroma. Mahogany, medium tan head, some lacing. Molasses and fig flavor, a little on the sweet side. A little thistle appears at midpalate. Walnut and charred oak finish. Alcohol fairly well masked, medium bodied. Not quaffable, but makes for a nice sipper with good food pairing potential. I’m thinking brisket. The hoppiest of the Anniversary ales from Shmaltz that I’m working through at the moment. It starts perhaps a touch too sweet and finishes with a bit much char, but it’s still a pretty nice rustic brew.

Weak molasses nose. Clear mahogany, thin tan head, minimal lacing. Sweet, a little cloying, with a complimentary tartness. Earthy with notes of date but dominated by soil, with faint hints of soy sauce. Finishes with unsweet prune skins. This beer seems to combine some of my least favorite flavors from other beers all into one somehow. Rustic yet cloying. I’m not real crazy about this.

Chewing tobacco nose, faint hints of dates. Clear mahogany, thin beige head. Body is surprisingly thin. Astringent charcoal flavor. Chalky in the finish. Alcohol completely unnoticeable. If the ABV is correct, this beer could get a person in trouble. Drinks like a light bodied irish stout. Not terribly exciting.

Medium beige head. Deep dark red body. Roasty raisiny paper aroma (clearly oxidized) with earthy caramelly notes. Dry-sweet papery earthy caramelly taste with buttery notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry roasty earthy soy sauce aftertaste with fruity papery notes. Probably a bit old. Should rerate. (0.355l bottle, Café Amsterdam, San Francisco.)

12 oz bottle. Used a pint glass. Amber / brown almost clear color. No head, nearly no aroma even after warming a bit. Low carbonation. Medium body and smooth mouthfeel. The flavor runs to caramel malts with a hop bitterness that carries over into the finish. It’s listed as an Amber Ale, yet I get an IPA taste and feel to it. Or an APA, rather then Amber. Not really my kind of brew, I would drink the Messiah Bold before this one.

Used my Newcastle glass. 12 oz bottle. Mahogany color. Soft carbonation. Tiny ¼ inch white head barely noticeable on the surface. Nose is very nutty with roasted malt and a stale, mustiness. The flavor starts with caramel malt with the finish having light roasted nuttiness with the slightest hint of hops. Light bodied and a bit too thin. An easy drinking Brown Ale that will not make you to full or bloated. Some drinkability however, still very average.

22 oz. bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours dark amber / orange brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of citrus fruits, pomegranate (obviously), mango, and citrus hops. Flavour is pretty muted - the aforementioned fruits, with a bitter tangy finish. Palate is dry and not overly complex. Decent attempt but I'd say it's off the mark.
