Description
The process of brewing beer hasn’t changed much since we started back in 1777. And neither has our unique approach to crafting characterful beer. But our equipment most certainly has.
Our state-of-the-art, independent, family-owned brewery now stands proudly alongside our old brewery on the banks of the River Stour in Blandford, Dorset. Using the finest ingredients and over 240 years of expertise, our brewers create beer that brims with flavour.

Bottle: Deep golden to light amber coloured, lacing off-white head; dryish aromatic, a bit cheesy and hoppy nose; moderate bitter flavour, light bodied; lingering bitter finish with traces of toasted malt. Not bad, but absolutely not moreish.......

500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s, Holborn. Tall foamy white head reduced to a thin layer. Golden body. Light and fresh floral nose. Moderate hoppy profile with a taste of sweet fruits and suggestions of some kind of berries. Rounded palate (01.02.2007)

Pours a dark amber with touch of a white head; quite lively; spicy ginger aroma, and similar taste; refreshing, despite the sweetness, and quite full-bodied with a dry aftertaste.

Huge, creamy head with lots of lace; amber, clear beer. Very whisky-like nose, malty, slightly smokey and lots of honey (the badger would approve). It’s just not very hoppy. Rather dull, even dusty malt taste; caramel malt. Some oxydation. Has quite some body for a rather low alcohol beer, which only helps to underline the fact that the "First Gold" might be there, but not really in force. Txs. to Jezza for supply!
