Description
The process of brewing beer hasn’t changed much since we started back in 1777. And neither has our unique approach to crafting characterful beer. But our equipment most certainly has.

Our state-of-the-art, independent, family-owned brewery now stands proudly alongside our old brewery on the banks of the River Stour in Blandford, Dorset. Using the finest ingredients and over 240 years of expertise, our brewers create beer that brims with flavour.

From the bargain bin at Waitrose, Frimley. Opaque-hazy gols. Thick foamy head. Aroma has spice, citrus, a lager soda streak. Initial bitterness is followed by smooth but watery malts. Slightly resinous, herbal. Honey sweetness. Doughy malts. But all a tad underpowered. Light. Watery. Lifted by Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. A hoppy Helles is what comes to mind. Only a tad, am mentioned before, underpowered.

[50cl bottle from my local Waitrose.] A shiny opaque black pour with a trace of pale tan head; aroma of chocolate syrup; taste of strong sweet coffee; then a slightly drier finish with some maple syrup. Too sweet for me.

Keg at Hall & Woodhouse, Portishead. Burnished amber with a white head. A little pithy grapefruit and pine before an increasingly assertive bitterness in the finish. Crisp and clean. I'd like the flavours to shine a bit more, but nevertheless this is definitely an improvement on Badger's normal dire offerings. Not bad.
