On tap at the Ravensgate Arms Ramsgate. Hazy reddish brown colour lasting beige head. Hoppy aroma. It's a hell of a barley wine. Good dark red fruits. Bitter finish. Sweetish. Good strawberry jam. Rather good i thought. Hoppy finish. Peppery.

Dec. ’16. A 0.5 l bottle at Brasserie 4:20, huge, enormous thanks to the Roman ratebeer crew (ippopotamo36 and Mortlach) for pulling it out! Bottle #444/1650, by their words, one of the few last conditioned bottles in existence! So, it poured a pitch black body with medium sized head. Beautiful, strong aroma of dried and cooked fruits, coffee, chocolate and licorice. And more. Flavor was lightly sweet, with notable roasty bitterness. Dried fruits dominated, like raisins, which even seemed a bit oxidated, but drown in chocolate, licorice, coffee and cooked plum perfection it wasn’t bothering. Secondary flavors pronounced plum jam and even added some cinnamon, pepper and some unidentified aromatic herbs to it as the finish was smoothly built up. I missed to write down a lot of things for sure. Full bodied, with warming alcohol all the way through, but extremely drinkable for 14%. Not the best I’ve had for sure, but an excellent imperial stout, very complex, well balanced and tasty. My kind of thing. Silo mi ka budali pleska.
