Description
Arthur Van den Bossche founded the brewery in 1897. After his death in 1925, Elenora Callebaut, Arthur's wife and daughter of the Callebaut brewers and chocolatiers family, continued the brewery. In 1935 Willy and Mark Van den Bossche, the 2nd generation, take the helm and further expand the brewery. Ignace son of Mark Van den Bossche, 3rd generation, becomes active in the brewery in 1976. In 2015 Bruno Van den Bossche takes over the brewery from his father. The 4th generation is now taking the lead.

Bottled. Hazy deep brown colour. Well-lacing capuccino-coloured head. Stays. Aroma: caramel, toffee, toast, fruit esters, Belgian yeast, a touch of nail polish. Medium body. The taste follows the nose with the exception of minor roastiness present. Medium sweet. Warming. Low to light bitterness. Stout? No way. Just a middle-of-the-road BSDA with a minor roast nuance.

Bottle at home. Brown, some red, color. Beige/brown head. The taste is a little soft compared to the abv of 9%. For an imperial stout I expected more taste.

Bottle. Minimal gushing. Clear golden pour with a huge white rocky head. Eternal retention. Aroma: fruity, spicy, grainy. Medium body. Robust sweetish taste. Malts, candy, fruit. Some spices. Grassy medium plus bitterness forms the ending. Good enough.
