Pint on tap at Club Rivers, Riverwood. Nitro, 5%. Dark brown beer with a creamy white head. Nose is chocolate and coffee. Light body, flat mouthfeel. Finish is bitter sweet with a little hint of liquorice. Not bad, bit of a lightweight.

Bottle (says Seasonal Ale on front, 111 British India Pale Ale on back). Copper with a fat coat of pale beige head. Aroma of stewed fruit, butterscotch, earthy and grassy hops. Medium bodied. As much caramel as fruit with any sweetness countered by firm earthy bitterness. Tasty but a bit of a vague palate.

Can. Fennel and star anise: not what you expect from Lord Nelson. Gold with a good coat of white head. Aroma of bright anise, crackers, mandarins. Quite soft texture with the spice notes fitting quite well with the English yeast. Enough bitterness. Pretty good summer quaffer.
