Bottle sample at Moonlight Meadery, pours a clear blonde. Aroma brings out earthy notes, subdued wildflower honey and some light acidity. Flavour tastes different than it smells, with beautiful orange blossom notes upfront, backed with medium sweet honey. Complex and nicely layered. Excellent.

Bottle sample at Moonlight Meadery, pours a clear yellowish blonde with a few bubbles of white head. Nose brings out light ginger and apples upfront, with moderate sweet honey. Flavour reveals the ginger and apples upfront, with medium sweet honey nectar. Nice use of the adjuncts. Good stuff.

Bottle sample at Moonlight Meadery, pours a clear rusted bronze. Aroma is a bit earthy, with subdued wildflower honey. Flavour has some oxidation notes, with earthy overtones and moderate sweet honey. Not overly complex, not with the layers one might hope for. Decent.

Bottle sample at Moonlight Meadery, pours a clear dark rusted orangey yellow. Aroma brings out moderate apricot intensity upfront, with heavy sweet honey nectar. Flavour reveals light tartness from the apricots, cutting down on the sweetness and leaving a very pleasant alcohol burn. Nicely constructed, with a nice warming finish. Excellent.

Bottle sample at Moonlight Meadery, pours a clear dark burgundy with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of semi-sweet berries, with subtle wildflower honey. Flavour is quite complex, with lightly tart and semi-sweet berries, with wildflower honey. Balanced and nicely done.

Bottle sample at Moonlight Meadery, pours a clear pinkish ruby. Aroma brings out lightly tart cherries, lots of orange blossom and a touch of dry honey. Flavour reveals lots of bone dry wildflower honey upfront, with dry cherries and orange blossoms. Floral and dry. Good stuff.

Bottle sample at Moonlight Meadery, pours a deep dark purple with a small pink head. Nose brings out loads of tart red currants upfront, with loads of oak. Flavour is very oaky and bone dry, with tart red currants upfront, with loads of oak. Bone dry and complex. Very nice fruity and dry mead.

On tap at Schilling Cider House - Seattle, pours a hazy blonde, no head. Nose brings out light earthy rye, with some whiskey barrels, and sharp, dry, acidic apples. Flavour is intensely complex, with lots of dry, acidic apples, apple skins, oak, and earthy rye. Complex and well-balanced. Excellent.

On tap at Schilling Cider House - Seattle, pours a clear blonde, no head. Nose is intense, with uncompromising scotch barrels, booze, wildflower honey, and dry apples. Flavour is unusual, with smoky, peaty whiskey, followed by subtle wildflower honey, and crisp apples. Smoky, dry and boozy. Not a drink of refinement, but it's complex and wonderful to drink.
