Description
In August 1982, our late founder Tony Allen opened Oak Brewery on an industrial estate in Ellesmere Port. After much success, he moved nine years later to a location more central to his trading areas. Phoenix Brewery, Heywood!

Phoenix Brewery was registered in 1874, brewing directly from the Brewery tower and owning over 100 pubs in the local area. Phoenix’s history is still proudly displayed on our seven-story tower.

Building upon our strong foundations, we continue to brew Tony’s longstanding classic beers, whilst introducing innovative new brews. The team are looking forward to welcoming you to our Brewery site – soon to be open to the public for the first time in our history!

In 1996 it took the decision to trade as the name of the brewery Phoenix Brewery.

Cask, The New Oxford, Salford. Golden colour, white head. Fragrant, hoppy aroma, some citrus too. Flavour had bags of dry hop, balanced nicely with some fruit and malt. Lingering, dry bitter finish. Yep, I dig it.

Cask handpull at Ship & Mitre, Liverpool. Pale gold, thin off white head. Slightly sweaty sox, but a rather good citrusy hoppy beer. Some good hop aroma, nice bite on finish. Typical pale gold Phoenix beer, and I like it. Good biting hop.

Cask, Head of Steam, Liverpool. Had to try this as a prelude to watching one of the greatest men’s finals in wimbledon history...just a pity my money was on Federer ! This was a pale golden affair with a thin white head. Drunk in haste, but very refreshing notes of citrus and hop. Would seek out again.

Cask, Ship and Mitre, Liverpool. Darkish brown with a small muddy coloured head. Sweetish aroma with some fruit and malt present. Smooth and soft mouthfeel. Flavour is quite malty with a slight fruity tang in there and a dry bitter hop finish. Alcohol nicely hidden. Crap name for a half decent beer.
