Description
In August 1982, our late founder Tony Allen opened Oak Brewery on an industrial estate in Ellesmere Port. After much success, he moved nine years later to a location more central to his trading areas. Phoenix Brewery, Heywood!

Phoenix Brewery was registered in 1874, brewing directly from the Brewery tower and owning over 100 pubs in the local area. Phoenix’s history is still proudly displayed on our seven-story tower.

Building upon our strong foundations, we continue to brew Tony’s longstanding classic beers, whilst introducing innovative new brews. The team are looking forward to welcoming you to our Brewery site – soon to be open to the public for the first time in our history!

In 1996 it took the decision to trade as the name of the brewery Phoenix Brewery.

Dark brown. Very sweet. Well hopped.

Sampled cask conditioned at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, Sweden.
Amber coloured. Grapefruity hop aroma. Sweet and rather malty. Domintaed by it's citrusy fruitiness. The mouthfeel is sharpish and thus the bitterness becomes unbalanced and harsh.

Sampled cask conditioned at Akkurat, Stockholm, Sweden.
Pale golden. Flowery aroma with strong notes of cardamom. Medium sweet with medium body, solid malty mouthfeel and notes of wheat. Well hopped with citrusy bitter finish.

Pale orange with citrusy aroma. Clean and medium bodied with salty very bitter finish. Solid.

Black. Deep roasty aroma with hints of coffee. Near full bodied with chewy maltiness and pleasant warming mouthfeel. Well hopped with salty, really bitter finish. A top notch cask porter!

Sampled cask conditioned. Pale amber. Aroma is dead similar to Swedish snus, ie tobacco and raisin aroma. Rather light bodied, a bit sweet. Fruity. Just a hint of bitterness. Very flavourful for being only 3.8%.
