Description
In August 1982, our late founder Tony Allen opened Oak Brewery on an industrial estate in Ellesmere Port. After much success, he moved nine years later to a location more central to his trading areas. Phoenix Brewery, Heywood!

Phoenix Brewery was registered in 1874, brewing directly from the Brewery tower and owning over 100 pubs in the local area. Phoenix’s history is still proudly displayed on our seven-story tower.

Building upon our strong foundations, we continue to brew Tony’s longstanding classic beers, whilst introducing innovative new brews. The team are looking forward to welcoming you to our Brewery site – soon to be open to the public for the first time in our history!

In 1996 it took the decision to trade as the name of the brewery Phoenix Brewery.

Taste is initially malty, then fruity with dried fruit and a bitter finish with dusty hops and pine needles. Medium to full body and lots of flavour. Balanced sweetness. A complex and tasty ale.

Cask handpull at Market Porter. Copper colour wit thin off white head. Phoenix make some nice beers and this is good enough. Hop is quite aggressive compared with most UK bitters. Malt is quiite juicy to balance the hop. It’s good without setting the world alight
