On draught at Freshcraft during the Cigar City Reception. Dark brown pour with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of pumpkin spices and caramel malt. Full-bodied with flavors of ginger, pumpkin, caramel, earthy malt and yeast. The finish is sweet with a toasted pumpkin aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle @ Dan’s house that I was supposed to save for my #5,000th rating, but fuck it. Pours a clear, light reddish brown appearance with a light brown head that dissipates pretty quickly. Tangy oud bruin, vinegar, cherry acetic, lightly chocolate, nutty aroma. Super tangy, incredibly sour cherry, super acetic, vinegar, overly sour flavor. Fuck, I remember kind of liking this on my previous taste about a year ago but this is a vinegar, cherry bomb and removes the enamel from your teeth.

Was told is was a pale ale with 100% Brett fermentation - cloudy dark orange - nose is strong Brett pineapple and muskiness, along with an American-ish hop profile, some peachy sweetness - flavor is sweeter than I would like up front, but the strong pineapple Brett notes work decently with this - moderately phenolic - a bit of rustic Brett wildness - strong hop finish that doesn’t integrate with the yeast character as well as it could - I enjoyed it, but again, I would have liked it much drier.

Tap at Trinity - turbid gold - fluffy head - nose is medium dry, with spicy hops, moderate yeastiness and strong phenols, some of which are welcome (white pepper) and some not (light plastic) - flavor is very yeasty, lightly tart, almost hefe-like up front - but then some crispness arrives, some dry, Biscuity malt, moderate phenolic character - a little flawed, but overall relatively enjoyable.

10.0%. Hazy dark red - amber beer. Big fluffy off white head. Smooth palate with a trailing carbonated bite. Nicely judged malt base - rich but fresh and not cloying. Nice fruits provide counterbalance - cherry and a touch of melon. Finishes smooth with a whisper of aniseed alcohol. Overall the abv is well hidden. Nice beer!

2010 bottle @ Armin’s post-Scott’s Summer Saison tasting. Gusher but it didn’t appear so at first. Cloudy, yellowish orange appearance with a white head. Fairly spicy, nicely floral, tangy bretty, spicy pineapple/lemon, lightly earthy aroma. One of the best aromas of an incredible saison tasting night. Cinnamon spicy, fairly spicy, refreshing lemon spritzy, somewhat tangy/lightly sour, nutmeg spicy, a touch woody flavor. Bravo. Bravo. Bravo. One of the best Saisons I’ve ever had. Should have shared this with Scott and co. Funky, spicy, fruity, refreshing. Fuck yeah. I guess I’m rating way higher than anyone else, but sweet jesus, this is just about perfect right now.

Tap @ Tap n Handle Foco. Golden yellow appearance with a white head. A bit peppery/spicy, light citrusy, somewhat grassy aroma. Fairly dry, citrusy, somewhat peppery flavor. Pretty good, but I’ve had better Saisons from Trinity.

Brown with no head. The aroma is kind of a sour Flemish type. Quite tart and vinegary, with light chocolate notes and tons of balsamic tartness and wood. Funky, interesting interpretation.
