Description
Mission Brewery was originally established in 1913, but like most breweries of the time, it went out of business during the first year of Prohibition. In 2007, Dan Selis, an avid homebrewer, re-established the brand and has built it into one of the top craft breweries in San Diego County.

Sampled on draft at D’s in Monroeville this beer poured a dark amber color with a medium sized white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was light clove, faint citrus and almost butter. The flavor was fairly dry banana and clove with a bit of bread underneath. Short finish. Light body. Ok.

Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s in Pittsburgh this beer poured a bright golden color with a huge creamy yellow-white head that lingered and left incredible lacing. The aroma was sweet grapefruit, lemon and a bit of pine. Nice nose but a bit faint. The flavor was sweet grapefruit, pineapple, pine and caramel. The finish was long with lingering pineapple and grapefruit. Full bodied. Excellent.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 5/9/11
Aroma: The aroma is fairly faint, some grains/malts/yeast, with hay, grass, and a little fruit
Appearance: It pours a clear golden-orange color with a fizzy white head leaving no lace
Flavor: The taste is fairly light as well, mostly yeast and hay tastes with a light fruitiness
Palate: This one is very light, sticky, overly carbonated/tingly mouthfeel, and a slightly dry finsh
Overall Impression: I wasn’t particularly impressed with this one. It is fairly subtle in the flavor and aroma departments, and a little too carbonated for its own good, but there isn’t anything terrible about it, and it is fairly drinkable, so the score won’t be too low.

Bottle at Butters’ Slutfest: Weak walnut aroma. Clear amber, medium head. Sweet grainy flavor with white grape accents. Clean finish. Not a style I like, but this one has some neat qualities.

Bomber, when opened foamed all over the place. Pour is cloudy light brown. Smell is Processed dull hops. Quite bitter initial flavor and the taste is quite alky. Not quite as freshly hop bitter as many other IPA I’ve had, yet still on style. Very little co2 in there. Oily palate. Finish is long dull bitter linger that is quite rude and over the top.
