This bock poured a deep amber colour with a dish soap, bubbley head. To the nose there are scents of ripe raisins and dates. Heavy malt scent, almost a pumpkin scent too. First taste was very, very malty with other flavours such as bread, caramel and dough. Finish is malt all the way.

This lager poured a dark orange colour with a nice foamy, off-white head. To the nose there are scents of cloves, leaves, minute vinegar and ripe fruit. First taste was thin with a medium hop flavour. Flavours of vinegar, soy sauce and ripe fruit in the forefront. Finish is slightly bitter with a light hop flavour.

Draft at Micropub, Rockford. Opaque black brown, forsty glass, big roasty beige head. Awkward, as per style. Big and bitter, with a chocolate water body. Bitter, but not really closest resembles an Eastern European Black beer. Nutty with a funky chocolate pungence. Sub par effort but does reinforce the style. Watery. Syrupy. Not World Class.

Bottle at Craig’s, Edinburgh tasting, big thanks to Craig for this beer. Shared in company of Craig, Stella, Jan, Charlotte, Fritz and Loz 30.10.10 This is a little chewy some nuts, light caramel, soft in the mouth, bit fizzy. I find this a touch drab, nothing special. A5 A3 T5 P3 Ov10 2.6

500ml bottle - dark mahogany pour with a thick, creamy, lasting head - looks pretty damn awesome, really - nose of woody hops, chocolate, smoke, damn leaves - soft carbonation - very creamy in the mouth - quite sweet, actually, especially in the finish - quite a bit of earthy hop flavor, but surprisingly moderate bitterness - rye present, but covered up a bit by a chocolate sweetness - spicy hop finish - lingering smoke character - fairly decent, really.
