Description
In 1996 Pabst, once one of the largest breweries in the United States closed down its production in Milwaukee after 152 years. Since then Pabst’s legacy brands like Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR), Old Milwaukee, Lone Star, Rainier, Stroh’s, Old Style and Schlitz are brewed under contract by third parties. For nearly two decades, MillerCoors brews and distributes all of Pabst's beers under an agreement. In 2019, it has entered with City Brewing Company into a 20-year contract production agreement until 2040. Pabst will gradually transfer from 2021 until 2024 its production from MillerCoors to City Brewing.

Draft. Pours a clear, pale gold. Not much in way of aroma. Taste of grains and skunk. Light bidied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and no finish. Iverall, not cery good.

355ml bottle, 4.5% abv., from Systembolaget Kiruna. Fragile white layer. A slight haze to a very light golden coloured body. Hints of wheaty fruits to the nose. Sweet fruity taste. Empty down the throat. Watered. Soft carbonated. Just about drinkable (Tromsø, 15.07.2012).

Flaske 0,355l fra Systembolaget, Kiruna. Drukket hjemme 3 Mai 12. Lys gylden. Veldig høyt skinnende hvitt skum som daler sakte. Rar metallisk aroma. Smaken har samme metallpreg. Søt, ubestemmelig ettersmak. Ikke god.

Tap. Pours light yellow, slightly cloudy. Small white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Grassy, almost chemical aroma. Flavor is grassy with a little fruit and notes of preservatives. Very thin, almost watery in body. No hop notes anywhere in the profile. OK if ice cold and the day is blazing hot, since you can drink them one after another and not get drunk. Otherwise, pass.

May 2010: This beer is an old friend from long ago and when I saw it on tap at the Burger Bar (Las Vegas) I had one for old times sake. Not sure about other beers in this style (on tap) because I don’t come across any, but this looked fine, golden, bright and clear, with a good white head on top. No real aroma to get your nose round, hints of a hop maybe, but gets my regular score of three for a non-smelling lager/pilsner. Refreshing and thirst quenching, just like a lager should be, ideal throat cleaner before I hit the bars heavy brews. I enjoyed it, brought back a couple of memories of drunken sports fields and tins laying around, happy days.
