Two new Titanic brews in a row - on different days, from different venues with different conditioning - a rare occurrence! This golden with a bubbly head brew has been brewed again to celebrate an anniversary at the brewery. It's quite a robust hoppy-fruity beer, not tropical, more pithy.

I find some cherry porters' a little overbearing, this one isn't although it's still quite rich tasting, with the fruit most evident in aroma and developing in its aftertaste. The barrel-ageing is evident and a tad boozy. Bitter-cherry, nothing sweet here. Drank on the 2nd January - the birthday 156 years ago today of Titanic engineer Anthony Frost who perished on the liner, so dedicated to him.

Creamy tan head on rich dark brown coloured body.
Meaty & cherry aroma.
Medium bodied, smooth with a clean back
Almond, cherry, toffee & biscuit tastes with a bitter finish.
Not for me.

Bottle from Lupe Pintos. Clear ruby/brown body with a thin beige head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of cherry, roasted malt and strawberry laces. Flavour of cherry and a hint of coffee. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Light fizz. A tangy and fruity porter.

Cask at Prince Arthur, Fleet. Clear brown. Thin foamy translucent white head. Aroma has sweet caramel. Followed by veg soup. Bitter peripheralness. Light. Thin. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Pleasent but unexciting.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading at 4.4% ABV.] An amber pour with a ring of white head; the aroma has biscuity malts with a hint of spice; the taste matches this and is rather sweet; then there’s a dry finish with an earthy bitterness. Quite pleasant and seasonal.

A deep dark reddish copper porter with a thick frothy creamy lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light grassy hops, light fruity esters, light diacetyl, OK. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with light fruity esters, light chocolate, light mineral notes, pleasant. Cask at the Rocket (Wetherspoon), London.

330ml bottle. Pours black with a small head. Aroma is milk chocolate and vanilla, a touch on the artificial side. Taste is quite artifical, with chocolate to start and vanilla on the finish.
