MCR July Specials Beer#3. My only Manchester drinking day this month so a sweep of the one-offs. Clear mahagony-red, its quite fruity hop negates its dark appearance and makes this dark ale quite drinkable on another super-hot day in Albion. Quite smooth, there's hints of darker malt to be found, but tropical influences are greater.

Cask at Sun, Stafford. Pours golden yellow with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is strong on floral hops and citrus – but there are also hints of beans ! In the mouth it starts off as basically sweet, but with a kernel of bitterness which gradually increases. Floral hops and citrus again in the flavour alongside grapefruit and (later) traces of melon, spice and alcoholic strength. Finish is quite dry and slightly sticky. This is decent – not ruined too much by the citrus !

Cask at the moon under water Watford Jdw. A clear mid gold coloured pour with a decent creany white cap. Aroma is subdued, odd spicy, cleaning product, wintergreen almost, woody bark. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, layered malts, spicy citrus, and pine, spicy cif lemon, grass, assertive grassy hop. Palate is semi sweet spicy, mellow carbonation meh.

Hand pulled half pint in the BOD, Newport Shropshire on 2nd June 2026. Pours a golden pink colour with a creamy head. Raspberries in the nose more than in the flavour really. Fine if you are into raspberries, I can take them or leave them actually.

Large sample (of Roy's pint) at the Last Drop Inn, York on 20th May 2026. Day two of our three day York pub crawl. Titanic do a good Porter and this was no exception to their long line of this style. Malty, meaty and very drinkable.

Rochdale Easter Ale Trail 2026, Beer#11. Clear golden session ale, pretty much like the majority I've had today, but amongst its April 3rd peers in Rochdale it's just as good. Lots of hoppiness in both aroma and taste.
