Description
Eccentric beers and shirts, this is the winning combo offered by ZYTHOLOGIST. Equipped with their colorful attire, our two Crafters produce modern beers inspired by their many travels. As their outfit indicates, they founded their micro-brewery on the Hawaiian theme.

A few years ago, Nicolas and Bruno's friendship was borned during beer tastings where all their senses were used. This beverage became quickly a common passion. This is why they started studies of zythology and experimentation with their first brews. Always thirsty for knowledge, our 2 Zythologist's began micro-brewers studies.

Pours a bit viscous to an ultra-shortlived dark cream head leaving deep purple-brown, almost black beer. Chocolate obviously destroys the head, leaving spots of the chocolatefat on the mirror. Chocolate with just a dash of coffee - inverted cappucino? Sweet and smelling already syrupy. Tobacco first in the flavour, a short but never completely leaving sourish flush. Sourish chocolate? Finish reverts to sweet vanilla and alcohol. The slight acidity manages to weaken the 11% strong beer in MF. Low carbonation. I'm not convinced. Chocolate and beer - OK. Chocolate IN beer? It doesn't look and the character pulls in all directions at once. Txs to Stef!

Small white stable rim over cold-hazed golden beer; end of bottle solid mash. Peach, lunaria, sorrel, nectarine, slight acids - fruit & lactic. Peach really unavoidable in the mouth, sweetish-sour. Lactic acid, peachstones, peach liqueurs. Quite well fruit-filled, good carbonation, some acidburn. Gare aux pêches! Absolutely nice. Txs to Joren and Vera!

6/IV/24 - 37.5cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ Barjac (FR), BB: III/2022 (2024-213)

Clear pale goldish yellow beer, practically no head. Aroma: very funky, meaty, cooked chicken, oyster, crayons, weird yeast smell. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: gentle acidity, bitter, tea, a little weird, a bit metallic, some berries, lemony. Aftertaste: dry, sourish, a bit funky, lemony, some orange peel, a bit oxidized, white tea, a little zesty, meh, not very good. Didn’t smell or taste any mango at all. Might have been the age on this bottle, to I’ve been generous in the scoring.

Small whitish rim over faintly veiled metallic red beer. End of bottle solid deposit. Faint fruitnose, mainly cherries. Bit floormop Bretts? Tonka beans (with classic speculoos and "Clan" pipe tobacco) foremost. Dark cherries following. The Tonka beans lend a slightly perfumy smoked flavour gradually. Light body, soft carbonation, acidburn and -thinning. More perfumey than really complex, but still a pleasing fruitsour.

Very small head, soon reduced to pinkish rim over rosy, pale copper beer, lively carbonated. Sourish nose with red fruit, rhubarb. Bit lemony, lactic acid, wild yeasts. Demure fruitflavours with rather mild acidity. Again lemony, unripe raspberry or ditto strawberry. Finish has something leafy, fruitbushes, hibiscus tea. Tart, lipsmacking acidity but not very sharp. Acidthinning and (light) -burn. Interesting beer. Txs to Stef!
