Description
Eccentric beers and shirts, this is the winning combo offered by ZYTHOLOGIST. Equipped with their colorful attire, our two Crafters produce modern beers inspired by their many travels. As their outfit indicates, they founded their micro-brewery on the Hawaiian theme.

A few years ago, Nicolas and Bruno's friendship was borned during beer tastings where all their senses were used. This beverage became quickly a common passion. This is why they started studies of zythology and experimentation with their first brews. Always thirsty for knowledge, our 2 Zythologist's began micro-brewers studies.

8/III/22 - 33cl can from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte), shared @ Bar Beenhouwer, BB: 17/VI/23, LA011701621C (2022-245)

Clear blond yellow beer, small creamy irregular big bubbled head, little stable, falls down to a small layer of tiny bubbles, non adhesive. Aroma: nice, very juicy, fruity, oranges, grapefruit, pineapples, peaches, bit of a sweet impression. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: citrus notes up front, a bit lemony, grapefruit, good bitterness with a gentle acidity, nice! Aftertaste: a bit watery, fruity, citrus, zesty, grapefruit, nice one, good dry and bitter finish!

NEIPA (hopped with Citra and Simcoe) from this new craft brewing initiative in the Hainaut province. Can from some online shop I guess - I really cannot recall where I bought it. Slight gusher, but nothing to go all dramatic about. Very foamy, inches thick, cobweb-lacing, creamy, egg-white head, difficult to pour without immediately filling the glass; hazy ochre- to beige-tinged blonde robe. Aroma of lemongrass, green mango, lime peel, freshly cut thistles or hogweed, dried dandelion leaf, old bread, wet brown cardboard, dough, iron. Fruity onset, quite crisp actually, hints of unripe banana and apple peel, vague pineapple hint perhaps, lively carb, smooth body; doughy, 'old-bready', chewy malts, dried by zesty citric hoppiness also adding lemon verbena, some mango and a vague background touch of passionfruit - too vague, as the eventual bitterness, also yeasty in nature, last for much too long to maintain the NEIPA intentions. I do not have the impression that this perfectly turned out the way it was intended to be, but admittedly storage circumstances were not ideal either so I will take that into account and not be too harsh here; meritorious attempt at a very non-Belgian and very postmodern beer style, ending up in, again, something better characterized as "Belgian IPA" than true "New England IPA".

Bottle at THT November. Bit hazy yellow golden with white head. At first a strong skinky smell but it goes away afyer a bit. Sour apricot, orange, wheat, sulphur, still some skunk, grassy, lemon, gooseberries. Medium sour, light sweet and bitter. Just medium bodied. Not that good.

11 September 2021. At Summer Belgian Beer Geek Gathering. Many thanks, Klaas & Liesbeth, cheers to the whole crew!

Hazy dark brown-black, small, frothy, tan head. Aroma of sour cherry, toast & jam, prune, wood, vague varnish, fig. Taste has sweetish fig & cherry, sourish edge, toasty malt with almond touch, bit funky. Herbal hoppy finish, tart dark fruits, toast & wood. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Bit odd as in fruity & funky rather than woody, but never off for me.

Pours dark brown, no real head. Scent is mild malty, lambic is hidden. Funky chocolate. Rather mild. Taste is sharp, dry, roasty, bit plastic, not that great - seems a bit off.

Bouteille 37.5cl, BB 05/2024.
Couleur brune-cuivre, col fin blanc-cassé retombant rapidement.
Reste correct.
