Never thought I'd be finding this in Rome. Roast and plenty of bourbon. Chocolate, a dose of boozola. Black pour with decent head. Bittersweet and boozy end. Some caramel, notes of oak. Long term aftertaste hangs with bitter coffee, roast, caramel. 838317

Bottle at home in Canaan - picked up from the brewery. Pours oily black with a creamy, brown topping. Medium to big sweet flavour with nicely layered dark malts, dark fruits, raisins, cocoa, gooey fudge, bourbon, vanilla, light toffee. Full bodied, lightly chewy and oily, with fine carbonation. Warming and a bit sticky, maple dark malts, more dense chocolate character. A delicious sipper.

500ml bottled 2/23/23, drunk 7/21/23. Dark, undetermined clarity. Small, tan head to ring quickly. Molasses, vanilla, licorice and wood. Cocoa, dark chocolate. Seems very nicely attenuated. Clean, not boozey. Looootta licorice. Soft, malty, treacle, authentic black licorice candy, light caramel. Dry but with enough sweetness. Rich but attenuated. Thick but not syrupy. Dark but not coffee-like. Wow...this is artfully done. A non-coffee-flavored stout is a huge breath of fresh air. And despite all the licorice, bark, wood, spice, cacao, it's not too bitter/dark. Assertive and well-done. Can't wait to try the BA version as I've never had that.
