Can at BrewDog Aberdeen. It pours deep brown, with a massive yellow-white head. The nose is smoked streaky bacon, toast, treacle, caramel, roasted malt and earth. The taste is roasted malt, earth, toast, wood, saltiness, burnt caramel, subtle bacon and light spice, with a very dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty salty actually. Okish Brown ale.

250ml draught at Gaasa. Black as pitch, almost. Fawn-coloured head leaving spotty lacing. Smell of semi-sweet malts. Dark fruity and salty liquorice in flavour with notes of spiced berries. Bittersweet ending. Fine bodied. Likable (Oslo, 19.09.2012).

Can shared with BenH @ BrewDog Edin, 280912 (Thanks!)
Orange, bit hazy, white head dissipates to nothing
Aroma - sweet cereal malts, some belgian yeast, bit of a herbal note, rather disjointed nose, boring, where’s the poppy seeds?
Taste - as aroma, just a bland sweet cereal beer with belgian yeast chucked in, soft pale fruit esters, no harmony between the flavours, rather poor
Palate - almost no carb, thinnish body, bit of a creamy texture. Finish as main flavour, bit of cardboard too.
Overall - This was a mess to be honest, certainly not worth £6 in BrewDog for a can. In fact - I wouldn’t bother if it was 50p in Aldi

Golden pour with a medium white head that burns away steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of grainy malt and yeast. Light to medium body with flavors of spicy yeast, slightly sour fruit and malt. The finish is grainy with a tart fruity aftertaste. Just average overall.

Draft at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Pours dark, red-brown with a fine, bubbly tan head. Some dark sugars on the nose, bit of wood, mild tart fruits, some brown sugar and caramel. Hugely sweet flavor with some light, tangy dark wood notes, mild age to the malts, dark toffee, dark cherries, some cocoa. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Very warming on the finish, some dryness imparted by the wood gives the beer a nice vinous quality, which is furthered by the dark fruit notes. Very nice beer. Yes, quite vinous.
