16 oz can. Pours black with red tints. Medium head of big tan bubbles that dissipates very quickly. Aromas of sweet chocolate and roasted malts with a hint of dark fruit. Flavors of black coffee, dark chocolate powder, and burnt malts. Maybe a little licorice. Fizzy. Very nice.

Pours brown with ruby highlights and a non-existent head.Nose shows lemongrass, coriander, banana, caramel, chocolate fudge and Belgian doughy yeast. A bit weird.Similar herbal flavours, along with caramel and more Belgian yeast.Very low carbonation, could use a fair bit more.Yep, weird sums up this beer quite well.

On tap(@Mikkeller): Hazy, dark amber coloured, almost no head, solid port-vinous and fruity (raisins) nose, a bit sherry-like, too plus some wood; solid sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied, as expected, but not sticky; drier port-vinous and bitter-malty finish. Really good…

Can, 12C. Black with a tan head that’s a coat very quickly and then is gone. Aroma of treacle, mocha, grass, aniseed. Oily, lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Sweet with dark sugars, moderate roasted flavours, licorice, creeping bitterness. Pepper and anise linger a little long after the malt and licorice fade away. Would have liked a little more bitterness at the end, too. First sip seemed a bit thin, but it gradually filled out.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. A near murky brown one with a small quickly sidesticking brown-ish head. Woody chocolate and some tartness on the aroma, salt + pepper and vinegar also present! That's a bit weird I guess? It's quite caramel sweet, really vinious and woody! Also some licorice here. Really tasty, and a nice alco burning finish. Really tasty! 12.05.2012

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Beautiful dark amber color, with mahogany shades; creamy head. Smell of dirty water, dust, then some malt. Good body strength, and round mouthfeel; sweetish caramel and malt flavor, with some dusty accent, and not the announced kefir and lemongrass, but maybe there is a light final herbal touch. A pleasant strong Ale.

Enjoyed from can while hanging out at the roof top at Fountainhead in Chicago, IL on my birthday. I didn’t take tasting notes for this one, but I remember being completely unimpressed. At one point I got a pure gulp of sodium, maybe my worst beer drinking experience so far. Not the worst beer ever, but not really too good and Rogue’s bacon beer was hands down much better than this one.

Enjoyed at a friends place while bottling some home brew. Not a fan of this stuff. Appearance pitch black with almost no head. Aroma of chocolate, light booze, bit of spice/cinnamon. Taste is ok, features all of the aroma elements, doesn’t really add anything, below average when comparing against other of the style.

Total Wine Fairfax 4-pack of cans: Pours an orange colour with a white head. Aroma is very fruity, with a noticeable amount of yeast. Taste is somewhat sweet. Hops are present. Uncommon Brewers always throws in some extras in there of weird flavours. That being said, this beer is much more standard than their bizarre Gemini Ale. This was also pretty good to drink on a roasty summer day out in the hot sun.
