Bottle @ "This time Johan made the floor sticky" tasting. Clear yellow color, small white head. Don’t get a lot of aroma other than lightly malts and hay. Taste malts, grainy, decent grainy bitterness and a slight sweetish touch. Average to medium body and carbonation.

Bottle at Deano’s monthly tasting, September 2013. Poured a hazy light amber with a thin white head. The aroma is malty with some notes of paint stripper! The flavour is weak bitter with a malty, smooth weak caramel yeasty palate. Quite drinkable.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of wheat, sharp almost plastic-like rye notes that die out when the beer warms up, light floral, yeast, citrus. Flavour is light to medium-sweet, citrus, wheat, hint of spelt-like tartness, some rye bitterness, light-bitter finish. Light-bodied. Decent blond ale, but nothing spectacular. Just, as usual with De Schans imo, well-crafted.

Bottled. Clear copper color, short head. Aroma is soft smoked (not peat), wood, slight hop, some malt. Not a lot of aroma. Much more flavor, mostly caramel, hint of roast, some soft smoke. Lacks some character though, but it’s not even 6%, so maybe I shouldnt expect more. Easy to drink ale, with a touch of smoked (thanks for not taking peated) malts. Ok balance, lacks complexity.

Backlog. 33 cl bottle enjoyed Feb. 2004. Orange/amber color. Dense head, with a small layer remaining. Aroma’s: Fruit, caramel, malty sweetness. Flavor is caramel, medium sweet, light fruity acidity. Medium bodied. Finishes medium bitter. Very nice, but a bit too strong & full for a saison.

Backlog. Young bottle, enjoyed Jan. 2003. Straw/golden colored. White head with small layer retention. Aroma’s: Malty sweet, sweet fruits. Flavor is only lightly sweet. Medium bodied. Like most Schans beers a quality brew, albeit on the sweet side.
