Description
With the creation of Village brewery De Meester we want to re-establish the tradition of artisan brewing in Kuurne. Our beers are brewed solely according to the traditional brewing processes, with the greatest care and only with natural raw materials. For our beers, we use hop flowers from Poperinge exclusively and refrain for using nor colour pigments, nor foam improvers, nor artificial seasonings. The result of this traditional work methods are the beers of Village brewery De Meester. Beers with character, interwoven with aromas from the different local hops.

Grossier.

2 February 2020. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter! Hazy dark brown, unstable, frothy, tan head. Aroma of dried banana, raisin, prune, liqueur, port wine, milk chocolate. Taste has sweet banana, apricot & ripe red grape, a tad woody & herbal bitter with fruit cake-like maltiness. Dryish, peppery hoppy finish, slightly woody, lingering dried dark fruits & warming port-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Could have had a more refined 'red wine' profile throughout but it adds enough depth for sure.

2 February 2020. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter! Clear golden, lasting, thick, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of chewing gum, spearmint, winegums, ripe apple, weed, vague paint or varnish. Taste has sweetish apple & apricot, spicy core of mint & pepper with dank herbs & weed perhaps, bready malts underneath. Dryish, grassy hoppy finish, herbal & spicy with a dash of jenever-like alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Messy brew; call me old-fashioned but I fail to see the attraction of 'cannabis', let alone combining it with food or drinks.

2 February 2020. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Jerre! Clear red-amber, quickly thinning, frothy head. Aroma of mashed red apple, raisin, overripe red grapes, toffee, vanilla, whisky. Taste has sweet red apple, raiisn & pear, a tad phenolic, clove-like & woody. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, more red grapes & warming whisky alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft-flat carbonation. Too much of everything, too little as a whole.

2 February 2020. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Jerre! Hazy brown, lasting, frothy, tan head. Aroma of pink grapefruit, red apple, blood orange, pine, dried leaves, herbs. Taste has bitter blood orange, apple peel & grapefruit, a tad nutty & yeasty with cake-like maltiness. Dry, herbal hoppy finish, nutty, piney & earthy, lingering (over)ripe fruit. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Lots of aspects thrown together. As Cream once sang, 'strange brew'...
