We find the inspiration for Tributary beer in the landscape of Southern Maine, with its winding brooks, salt water marshes, and tidal rivers converging into the mighty Piscataqua River. Tod and Galen are passionate environmentalists and understand the critical importance of good, clean water.
Water is the most vital component in the brewing process; Tributary is our metaphor for the delicate brewing process. Tod’s skill, ingenuity, and creativity, combined with our mission to preserve this way of life, results in small batches of Tod’s favorite recipes for traditional, well-balanced, full-bodied beers — many of them! Tributary’s home is the coastal town of Kittery, Maine. We use only the finest malt and hops in our brews for beer lovers locally and beyond.

500 ml bottle. Dark brown body, with a small, creamy, dark beige head. Aroma of whisky, sherry, wood, liquorice, dark chocolate, marzipan, red fruits, some red wine, slight booze. Tastes pretty similar. Full, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes roasty, wooden, warm, slightly boozy, a bit fruity, moderate vinous. Tasty, rich and complex, with the barrel notes well integrated. Lovely, not too heavy sipper. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16

Cask at GBBF 2015 - London. Pours cloudy gold with a frothy, white head. The aroma holds pithy citrus, rind, dry pale malts. Light sweet flavour with pleasant pithy citrus, grapefruit, tangerine. Light bodied with fine carbonation; OK condition. Good and juicy in the finish, more pith, rind, mellow sweetness. Solid.

GBBF Day 1. Cask. Almost opaque dark brown beer, good bubbly tan head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Suitably earthy brown malts, a touch of semi sweet chocolate. Some ripe fruits on the back end along with a little sherry. Quite a dry finish. Nice brown. Layered and rich.
