Cask at Chapel Beer Festival. Clear brown beer. Light tan head. Low carbonation. Soft and semi dry palate. Soft tangy malt with fruity hops - bitter orange with a splash of grapefruit. Well joined up.

Cask at The Fox, somewhere in Hertfordshire. Pours black with a medium off white head. Aroma of grass and burnt malts. Flavour is roasted / burnt with grassy hops and stale coffee. Very soft carbonation and medium bodied. Really great flavours for the low ABV.

Clear brown beer with a tidy cream coloured head. Light crisp palate, semi dry. Light malt reasonably well balanced with bittering hops. However the hops just impart bitterness and not much else. Slight metallic note in the finish.

18/02/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (cask). Bevuta al Real Ale Beer Festival direttamente dal cask. Aroma intenso di limone, mela verde, lime, lieve erbaceo. In bocca è gustosa, attacco maltato dolciastro, quindi un bell’amaro, deciso e persistente, con punte lievemente acidule. Corpo basso, carbonazione quasi assente. Ottima golden ale, con un bel naso e un buon amaro in bocca.

Cask, handpump at The Maypole, Cambridge, 15.02.12 Pours hazy dark amber with a filmy white head. Quite a good beer, touch dry but there is a nice bitterness, however just a tiny bit of butteryness lurks in the background, otherwise interesting hop (French hop it states on the pumpclip) and interesting beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

23/12/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (cask). Nera, riflessi color caffè, schiuma bianco sporca, morbida e molto persistente. Al naso è delicata, con sentori di malti tostati e luppolo ben amalgamati, note erbacee. In bocca è equilibrata, a metà strada tra una porter e una black IPA (o hoppy black ale). Corpo medio, consistenza oleosa, vellutata, praticamente piatta. Non male.

03/12/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (cask). Nera, aspetto liquoroso, quasi impenetrabile, riflessi color caffè, schiuma perlacea biancastra, abbastanza persistente. Aroma intenso di malti tostati, quindi si fa strada il luppolo, con note agrumate e resinose. In bocca ha un attacco deciso con malti tostati, caffettoso, quindi un finale luppolato, agrumato, persistente. Impressionante. Corpo medio, bilanciata in maniera magistrale. Unica pecca, sa un po’ di detersivo e alla lunga stufa un po’.

03/12/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (cask). Dorata, bel cappello di schiuma bianco sporca, morbida, pannosa, molto persistente. Aroma leggero ma pungente di luppolo, note floreali, erbacee e di resina. In bocca è molto amara, con note erbacee e agrumate e un finale amarissimo, molto persistente. Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Carattere non propriamente inglese, decisa, aggressiva, intensa, amarissima. Davvero niente male.
