Cask at Brew Wharf - Borough Market, London. Pours rich brown with a foamy beige topping. The aroma has well roasted malts, cocoa and burnt grass. Light sweet flavor with heavily roasted malt character, bittersweet baking cocoa, lots of earth, some gritty burnt grass, charred steak, ashy wood. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. More of the same to finish, like well-torched wood, bitter charred grass, scorched earth, bitter dark chocolate, espresso. Quite rich for the ABV. A porter with cajones, this is.

Amber-brown, thin head. Earthy brown sugar, same brown sugar character, but with a splash of alcohol, subtle fruitiness and just a dash of hop.

Cask gravity at Brew Wharf, Borough, Friday 17th January 2014 consumed with Ang, Loz & John on a day spent brewing with Ang’ Black as yer at’ and like its sibling this is quite dry in mouth. The coffee and vanilla showing, the latter really adding a nice creamy seam to this beer and taking the edge off of the tanginess. The coffee that Ang spoke about, (I believe he got some from the great coffee place next door) adds a really nice roasty touch. Roasty linger. A truely lovely tangy porter, I love vanilla in beers such as this. A7 A4 T9 P4 Ov16 4.0

Cask gravity at Brew Wharf, Borough, Friday 17th January 2014 consumed with Ang, Loz & John on a day spent brewing with Ang’ Pitch black quite dry in mouth, spicey nose with mostly chilli coming through. Real fruit tang with some bitter chocolate. Quite a tang to this. Very nice I like it that the chilli adds to a great aroma yet is exceptionally subtle in the mouth, its good but I note from Ang that it’s been on a few days now so not quite as fresh as it could be, still it’s good though.
